Good for life. However, they like to re-check and make sure you're the guy they're looking for and not just some dude with the name name. |

i'd say for life,
fingerprints don't need updatting
they do it everytime to see if it is u everytime
and it's standard procedure |

its good for life.
They just print you every time to make sure that you are the evil twin. LOL
But seriously though. Sometimes people do look the same so they do it to cover there asses in case the do have the wrong person. |

YOU GET PRINTED EVERYTIME TO VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY. YOUR PRINTS ARE GOOD FOREVER. |

It's good for life, they just have to reprint you because of protocal, and to make sure you are who you say you are. |

Every time you go in they print you but your first print is permanent and is used as comparison and maybe evidence one day =) |

Just how many times have you been to jail? They print you to verify your identity. Also scars can alter your prints. |

They are good forever... sorry. they probably continue to fingerprint you to ensure your not claiming to be someone else. |

1 print is usually enough for a lifetime. Unless you badly scar your fingertips, but even then, the parts of your fingerprint that remain still should be enough to get a match.
Basically, once printed, they have your prints forever. |

They are actually good for a lifetime. That being said, they fingerprint you so they can identify you kn case you have, for example, altered your appearance in someway. Fingerprints are pretty much the only thing that they haven't figured out a way to fake yet. |

Fingerprints never change. I would guess they fingerprint you every time they toss you into the slammer so they can verify from existing records that you have your own fingerprints and not someonoe else's.
One of these days they'll toss you in there and leave you there, figuring they can probably save a lot of money on ink if they can avoid taking your prints a million times.. |

The orginal fingerprints are good and valid and keep in file forever, and they will be on file at the FBI national data base, but also everytime you are fingerprinted, those are added to your files, you may get scars or loose fingers and other minor changes, so they are always keep.
The reason every time you are arrested your are printed, they send them in, to be sure you are who you say you are, and also to be sure you have not been arrested or charged with some other crime under another name also. |

GEEZ................
They reprint you each time to verify that it is you. Your prints stay the same.
Not a wonder why you keep getting arrested................. |

Unless a severe scar has affected your fingers (i.e. burn, deep cuts etc) the prints are good for life however prints taken are still matchable to damaged or changed fingerprints, some stations aren't as high tech as others therefore the reprinting might be required each and every time. Most stations are now entering prints into a database (Coadis, Avis etc) which allows them to check more quickly for print matches...the prints are still necessary unless they are also equipped with a print reader. |

most state agencies ask for a reprint every six months |
