When a society breaks down the way ours has with one parent families and there children who have no roll models only violent films that advocate violence to get your own way . Why are we then surprised that our children use the only thing they know to express themselves , and in some cases boast of there achievements to give themselves some importance in the only society they know the streets . Plus the bleeding hearts have made it impossible for them to be shown the errors of there ways with suitable punishments . and yes to the PC brigade protesting about punishment it is not wholly there fault but our failure , but i do not wish to live in a lord of the fly.s environment thank you

Happens in the US as well. In some areas the paramedics have to be issued bullet proof vests. But we are only talking about the worst of the worst places.

So people are there to help people in your neighborhood be it a fire or a medical emergency and you attack them? What is the flippin point? It could have just as easily been your grandmother or own family in need.

If you read about it and watch things on TV even the hardened older criminals and rabble rousers always say "what has the world come to"? Sure we messed up but what is the payoff from attacking people helping others? Again..... it could have been my Mum.

That is why in all parts of the US and even in the calm areas where nothing would happen in a million years...... if the firefighters are called the police show up as well. And each and every police officer is armed so the yobs know to stay away.

I lived in Belfast for 21 years. It is quite common. If you saw the kind of people that engage in that activity, however, you would understand. They would throw rocks at the big shiny ball in the sky if they could.

It's disgraceful and I can't understand their mentality. The law should come down very hard on them instead of a slap on the wrist. These fire fighters are risking their lives every time they go out

I'm sorry to say that its been happening here in West Yorkshire recently. It's something which seems to pop up every so often over the years, but no-one can seem to get to the bottom of what is attractive to the yobs about doing it!

It's amazing that anyone would attack firefighters. These guys are trained to use high pressure hoses, break windows and doors, use power tools to cut roofs and vehicles apart, carry axes and pike poles.

You would have to be a complete and total idiot to attack guys like that.

Belfast Fire needs to put out a new policy stating that if one of there own is attacked, then the other ff's can do whatever they need to do to protect their own and themselves. There is a reason that riot police use fire hoses for crowd control!
