Friend's crazy ex boyfriend? what to do?

I took my friend to get her clothes from an ex-bf's apartment. He refused and started pushing around and hurting my friend and i called the cops. He then while i was on the phone hit me, pulled my hair, and tried to grab the phone away. They arrested him and everything, but i'm scared that he is going to come after me because he is seriously psycho and ruthless! is there anything i can do that can make me feel safer or something?

Also, If he is released, it should be conditinal on not coming within so many feet of you or your friend. You may want to call and find out. |

You and your friend need to get a restraining order from the courts. Since he was arrested - probably for battery and interfering with a witness - he should be in jail for a little bit. But get the restrainiing order, if he violates the order, he will be arrested again. Keep having him arrested until he learns. He may never learn. My ex did the same thing to me and although part of his sentence was he had to leave the area (he had no job, no ties to the community, no friends by that time) - he decided he didn't need to report for probation, so they arrested him once, twice, then he ended up doing 1 1/2 years in the state prison. I guess he eventually learned. But, once he knew I had the restraining order, he left me alone.
My restraining order is permanent - the only person who can cancel it is me - which would never happen. it's been 5 years now and I stilll make sure I know where my order is, although he's never bothered me again. |
