I wouldn't be surprised if the bouncer keeps the i.d. If the bouncer knows it's not your friend, he may assume it's been stolen. Also, I suspect there could be penalties if they discover that you gave it to him.
Just say no. |

The bouncer takes him to the side, says wait a minute calls in the police, the police will take him in, find out if he's real or fake, in the end he could be booked for stealing a passport or fraudulent use of a passport, he will be fined and you might be fined too if you come forward. |

do NOT do it- a passport is nothing to fool with AND you could be arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor! |

Just like your driver's license, your passport was issued to you...not given. It is not yours, it belongs to the Government. If the bouncer realizes that your buddies is using your passport, he might confiscate it, and turn it in to the police, throw it away, sell it to somebody else, who knows.... and ..... you're the one that has all the explaining to do when Homeland Security gets in on the act. Bad idea...don't do it. |

The person using it could potentially be arrested for using an official document to fraudulently obtain services, suspicion of theft of the passport and other things.
At the very least if he's caught it'll be confiscated and you'll be the one who has to explain to the police how he got his hands on it. |

You my friend would find your self being nicked short and simple, don´t know where you get the idea that a bouncer would take the driving licence off someone who is using it fraudulently and not report the matter to the police as they are obliged to? It is a legal document and the bouncer would himself have problems if he confiscated any document considered legal and being used in a manner considered fruad and not reported it to the police he would not be able to withold that document without reporting it or handing it back |

confiscated passport in the hands of someone (bouncer/manager/thug)
who could easily copy it and sell it on the black market for some nice bucks
Nahhh, driver's licenses are easy to get new ones but passports are more tricky now that were dealing with radical islamists |

They shouldn't take it off him, I've never heard of this happening before. But you are right to be cautious as if he loses it it could cost you a lot. If you have a driving licence maybe you could lend him this instead? It would be cheaper to replace. Or you could tell him to just wait until he's 18 like everyone else ;)
Btw there are always places you can go where you don't need ID to get in, so you could suggest that he could go there instead :)
Edit: Don't give me thumbs down!! All of my friends use other people's passports etc and I've never heard of this happening ever! Stop panicking the poor guy, we know its a bad idea but you won't get locked up for it gosh. Bouncers will just turn him away if it doesn't work, what would be in it for them to report it?? |
