If you have solid evidence (like a signed note), you can try the small claims court. Have all your evidence, witness, reasoning, dates, places, correct names, etc. ready, have whatever forms the court wants filled up properly.
The court wants specifics and it wants it quick.
Locate the court in your county and get as much information as you can about it.

When you lent him the money did you have him sign a promisary note. If not, you could file a claim in small claims court. It would be his word against yours and the witness. If he did sign a promisary note, you would win hands down in small claims court.

You should have had him sign a promise to pay when you loaned him the money. You can still take him to small claims court though.

If you have proof that you loaned $500 to your friend, you can collect your money by going to court. Send him a letter that you want your money back or else, you will being the matter to the court.

You can only get law enforcement to help AFTER you win a judgment against him. If you have nothing in writing, get something by playing a trick. Send him an e-mail asking when he's going to pay you back, and wait for his response. Save the response. Then tell him that you will go to court. Most normal people will pay immediately if you tell them this.

Bear in mind that this whole thing will probably ruin your entire family's relationship with him permanently, so be careful. If anyone in your family wants to remain friends with him, it may be best to forget about it.

Try small claims court. hope you had the agreement in writing

Join the club. If you have evidence of a witness then take the friend to small claims court. You dont need a lawyer for small claims. Sue for the 500 plus court costs. But when you are given a court date you MUST have the witness and any other evidence with you in court. If the witness wont show up then you have no case and wont win.

Law enforcement is not a collection agency. I recommend a lawsuit if you are having issues. This is not something police can help you with.

That's a civil matter. No, law enforcement doesn't get involved in that type of situation. You would have to go to the Clerk of Court's office and file a small claims action. Don't hold your breath waiting to get your money.

Go to the courthouse and take out a Warrant in Debt against him. He will have to show up to court and then the judge will make a decision based on the info. you give him. However, if this person is just going through a rough spot and you think that there is a chance he will pay you back with out this then I would hold off because it will go on his credit history and then he wont be able to finance a piece of chewing gum. Just ask your self is it really worth messing up his life that bad? You also could always threaten that warrant and the consequences of that might make him pay you back.
