Got a speeding ticket NJ 87 in 65, any suggestions to beat the ticket in court, can't afford it.?

well if you were caught on laser radar
were their cars around your car?
if so challenge it
were you stopped with other cars same time?
if so it is not acceptable to use radar gun and say that because 1 car was speeding the other cars around him were speeding
cops are only allowed to stop 1 car at a time
was the radar recently calibrated and was it fit to be in working order?
you can ask for last time radar gun was checked for accuracy
other then that i am sorry to say you will lose

I don't live in NJ, but I know in most states you may be able to agree to go to traffic school and the ticket is dropped. It will cost you to go to traffic school, but it isn't on your record therefore your insurance won't go up. It also depends on your driving record. If it's a first offense you may be able to strike a deal. If it isn't then your best bet is to consult an attorney.

They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you donâ€™t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

Over here in the UK there are lawyers that specialise in getting people off by finding the smallest flaw in equipment and/or procedure. Since you imply you are short on cash, you probably can't afford that. Are you a member of a motoring organisation? They might be persuaded to take your case if the result of being found guilty would harm your ability to make a living. My boss escaped a ban even though he was doing over 100 in a 70 limit - more than 30 over the limit here is classified as dangerous driving and should be a ban.

It's really really REALLY hard to just "beat" a ticket. If you don't have some earthshaking evidence in your favor, you don't have much of chance.

I don't know if NJ does defensive driving to dismiss a ticket, but I'd look into that.

Getting a lawyer might help. Some judges will lower your fine if they see you've spent money on an attorney, but you'll still have to have some sort of really good argument to get out of it. Chances are this option could save you a few bucks, but it will destroy any other options you might have open if you take the ticket to court.

You might as well go in an contest the ticket. Even without an argument, many courts will give you "deferred adjudication" which means, if you say you're guilty, and don't drag them into court to make you pay your ticket, they'll take it off your record, and give you a huge discount. You'll still have to pay about half.

If not, most courts have a very reasonable payment plan that they'll allow you do to pay it off over time, and you can usually even claim financial hardship to get it spread out even farther.

So you admit you were speeding.... if you don't have any money you should have not been speeding in the first place. I really don't have any sympathy for you... speed kills.

Sure hope that police officer shows up in court :)
