The Alcohol Arrest Referral Programme for Offenders is a multi-agency approach to the issue of alcohol misuse. As i understand the scheme each offender will attend two sessions to help them understand the impact of their drinking on themselves and others, and to provide them with the means to identify and avoid future high-risk drinking situations.

The scheme has no force of law and you can refuse to attend (punishment without trial (other than a fine) would be a breach of your human rights) if you wish. I think it is only a trial in some parts of the country at the moment.

when police find an offence they will take stop the offenders (kids with drinks, yes its an offence) and will stop and talk to their friends or anybody with them, we have always done it and always will, thats how police work starts, by talking to people.

But since the unfortunate steven lawrence enquiry the police are now require to record details of everybody they 'stop and account' this is so the higher ups can see who we talk to, stop, or search.
The reason for this is accoutnability, so we can see how many people we stop, so we are transparent and all that type of stuff.

generally the details go onto an intelligence system which is just a local system as has entries like
"spoke to so and so, for this reason in this place associating with"

this type of stuff helps us with our other dey to day enquiries.

Its not a problem for you, you dont get in trouble, and theres no criminal record or anything like that.

Lets face it the chances are that the offcicer will ofrget about it and it will stay in his pocket book until it gets detroyed.

Sounds like a routine check, nothing will happen. Did they offer you a slip of paper to explain why you were stopped. Were you searched?

Nothing should happen as you were not in possession of alcohol or planning to drink, however if you are bothered you can phone your local police station, or the station the police officers came from and ask why your details were taken and what are they planning to do with them.

they would of took your details incase they were called out again and it happened to be you,nothing will happen they do it for a precaution.

Hi,you have done nothing wrong.You have found out the hard way being with some one with drink then you get roped in.Think you will be getting the drill on drinking then with luck they will let it drop.If it was me I would tell my parents bet they will help you.Good Luck

If you're as innocent as you say you are, you've nothing to fear and I don't think you have to attend that awareness programme; that's just jobs for the boys and you're just a number so they can achieve their targets set out by this ridiculous government.

as long as you both were not doing anything wrong please do not worry sometimes the police do these checks at random but if your concerned you can go to the station and ask dont worry you wont be arrested just ask them why you got questioned perhaps you was in the wrong place at the wrong time .or you had a new copper just acting big .

If you are ever arrested, ask for a solicitor no matter what and always tell your solicitor the whole truth and follow their advice.

An awareness course is basically a few boring lectures.

Get used to it in the UK you will be harrassed by the police regularly till your 30.

same thing happened to me.its just in case you get caught with drink in the future so that they can throw it in yourface about catching you before.dont worry bout it..
awareness programme is just to make you"aware" of the "dangers" of alcohol.load of s*** and a waste of government money.lol.
