Guns in school...?

I just heard some rediculious s***. Arizona is trying to get some bill passed to let some children (with a permit) carry guns and teachers. I live in Arizona and if this passes, I will withdraw my child from school immediatly.

I think its a bad idea because when trying to catch a shooter at large, it would be much harder being that there are like 20 kids with guns in the air. Then students are shooting other students whom are trying to protect themselves because they think they are the shooter.

Or lets say one catches girlfriend cheating... he has a gun. What is going to stop him from not using it when angry or hurt. Or two people get in a fight and one pulls a gun. I honestly believe there will be more school shootings if guns were allowed.

then I heard that they would not allow those with criminal record... there are lots of killers that never had a criminal record! this angers me. Id rather teachers... but not students

if that's the case then you have 2 either get other parents 2 protest or change state to get as far away from that madness.

they should just strengthen security!!!!

Students would be a very bad idea. Teachers being armed would be OK.
But you live in Arizona..... folks there can already carry except in certain areas. This should not really shock you.

you must be 21 to have a CCW permit there fore no HS student would ever be able to legally carry. If teacher got the right to use there CCW then the people who want a big body count would have to hunt for another gun free zone to do there bad deeds.

Students should be able to carry firearms to school with a permit. It is a brilliant idea, because the students have to prove themselves responsible to be able to carry a firearm to school, and it should be a very important part of American society to make firearms available to everyone for protection.

I agree with you.

However, there is a federal law that bans guns in schools. So Congress would have to repeal that first, before the state could allow it.

I suggest you get your PTA to send the people in the legislature some nasty letters about this.

I don't think allowing students to carry concealed weapons is even remotely a decent idea - I would never support anything like that. Kids get mad at their friends too easy - kids get picked on during lunch or class, boyfriends, girlfriends - it's a bad bad idea.

I do think it's OK for a limited number of teachers be allowed to carry guns with restrictions on where it's located, when to touch it, and if they're a designated gun carrier, they should have to take lessons and pass some kind of course on safety.

Just my opinion.

i own guns and strongly believe that in the right hands, guns will save more lives then they end. and if it passes, it's not like everyone is going to be carrying a gun. allowing students to carry guns (those that are permitted to) can greatly deter future school shootingsby the wackos that want to strike up a body count. on the other hand, students have never been allowed to carry. it's something that should be looked into and considered though. it could go either way. imagine the headline "ASU student a hero after preventing a gunman from opening fire on a classroom." and if this was to happen, i bet almost everyone would agree, that it would save future lives. having a gun is a great responsibility, and only those that understand firearms and realize they can be extremely dangerous if used unproperly should have them. but all in all, guns are not to blame for shootings, people are, they pull the trigger.

I agree; that's the worst idea I've ever heard. Teenagers should not be allowed to have guns, period, unless they're expressly for hunting or some other kind of sport and they don't carry them around with them.

American babies should be given a loaded gun at the age of 6 months to sleep with. It should have a hair trigger. If they don't learn to handle their guns when they are young they won't grow up to be responsible secund mendmunt loving muricans.
