Has Anyone Ever Gotten a Traffic Citation For ....?

Has Anyone Ever Gotten a Traffic Citation For ....?

Not wearing your prescription lenses while driving? If so, isn't there some way to dispute this. I have a $200 ticket, and I was taking a quick drive to the corner store, and I got nailed for that!

Can you believe this crap?! Can I actually dispute this if I wasn't driving a very long distance?

If anyone has actually disputed this to a judge before, can you tell me what you said? And whether that was successful?

Thanks in advance

Of course you can dispute it. The whole key is to simply show up for a court date. The excuse or defense you use isn't the most important thing. I know you are creative, do what you do best. By virtue of fighting the ticket, the odds are greatly increased that your fine will either be reduced or completely dismissed. Often times the cop that issued the ticket fails to show up and then it's a done deal in your favor.

Were you driving? YES
Did you have your prescription lenses in? NO

What is there to dispute? It doesn't matter how far you went, you were behind the wheel of a car. Do you think it matters if you hit a kid two blocks from your house rather than two miles?

Quit your whining, pay your fine, and wear your lenses.

What did you get pulled over for? If there wasn't a valid reason for the stop the officer had no right to ask for your license. Can't just pull someone over for the hell of it. Same goes for searching your car. There has to be a valid reason for the stop or the search will get thrown out of court.

I have never received a citation for this but I can tell you that you probably won't win a dispute if you base it simply on the bases of the distance you were driving. If you have a restriction on your license there is no exception to that restriction. Not even for short distances.

Sorry to hear Mach.

Sorry, you have to pay the ticket. If the restriction is on your license, you have to pay. They gotcha. If your eyesight isn't that bad and you can basically see without your glasses and only use them to read, next time you get your license renewed, don't wear your glasses and you won't be restricted. However, if you have terrible eyesight and can't pass the test at the dept of motor vehicles without your glasses, shame on you for not wearing them; you could have seriously hurt or killed someone.

Hey Mach,

Hate to ruin your day, but I think youre screwed man...

Ive often gone before judges on traffic tickets (im a professional speeder) and had many dismissed for various reasons. Problem is, your license says that you REQUIRE corrective lenses for driving - it doesnt say that you require them only for trips longer than 10 blocks. So, because your license says you REQUIRE them, you are required to wear them no matter how short the jaunt is...

I had a similar thing on my motorcycle - I was trying to bump start it by pushing it down the street and them jumping on and popping the clutch. I live on a slight downgrade and I didnt have my helmet on because it was hot and I had to push the thing back up hill. A cop actually stopped me for not having a helmet even though I technically wasnt even riding the thing - the wheels were on the public road and I was sitting on it. Luckily, I was able to talk the ****** out of writing me a ticket for it...

Good luck man. Sorry to hear...Id at least go to court, say youre guilty and then ask for a reduction in fines. They will do that...

What were you stopped for initially - it wasn't the corrective lens charge

LOL--you are such an idiot. A judge will laught at you for disputing the fact you did not wear your lenses. You are lucky you did not get in an accdient!!! If you did...you could of had your license taken away. Seriously!!

I wrote this once. I stopped a lady for speed, 55/35 I asked her if she knew how fast she was traveling. She said "No, I can't see the speedometer." I asked why not, she stated "because I forgot my glasses at home". She had a restriction on her license requiring her to wear corrective lenses. I wrote her for the speed and for violating restrictions.

Your defense is the distance. The judge will not care if its around the block or a three hour trek. You violated the law and the amount of time it took to violate the law does not matter.

timmie00
That is not right at all. They must have pulled you over for another offense? Either way I would go to court and talk to the DA before the trial. Most traffic courts offer this option before a trial. Wile you may not win I am sure you could get it reduced by the da.

Although I do not see you standing a chance of beating this one, $200.00 is absolutely INSANE for that offense.
