Has anyone else noticed an increase in law enforcement presence in the larger cities lately?

When we were in Atlanta we noticed there were policemen all over the place. Has anyone else noticed this in their city or town? Are we gearing up for martial law?

Orion - Have you seen the new Dodge Chargers they're using with the brush guards on them??? We FLIPPED out when we saw about twenty on our route from Atlanta to home in SW Georgia!! It was like something out of freakin' Mad Max!

Oh my god...they are absolutely everywhere! In my town, which has about 100K people and no crime short of drug deals (victimless) and maybe an occasional drunken fight, they will actually have six cop cars roll up on a traffic stop and probably pull their guns out, if there is multiple people in the car. I have heard that they are doing this (via hearsay) because of recent shootings though out the country, but this isn't anything new. I lived in the suburbs (Bay Area) for most of my life. We dealt with this all of the time. There was less crime than here...no gangs...no violence or anything. The white kids learn to fear the police at a very young age. The more sociopathic types learn that if you become a cop, you can get rich and gain power just by driving a car around and harassing bums, teenagers, alcoholics and minorities. From what I understand, it wasn't always this way. You used to have to really ask for it to get pulled over. You used to have to call the police to get them to drive by your house. I have lived in Seattle, Sugarland (TX), Thompson Falls (MT), Butte (MT), Colombus (GA), Bay Area (CA), San Francisco (CA), and Chico (CA). It has been the same everywhere for as long as I can remember. You will be doing your thing and here and there, you will be rolled on. Once in a while you will get roughed up. The only place that I have lived in which I have never dealt with the police while minding my own business was in Southeast Mexico.

I personally believe that they have been gradually gearing us up for martial law. Every year they implement a budget that allows more and more cops driving around. They went from wearing blue to black. They drive more intimidating vehicles now. They are ultimately a military occupying your town. I don't think that too many people see this but I do. When the local police department is allowed to enter your house without your permission (because it is probable cause if you don't let them in...you must have something to hide!), a loophole was found to avoid habeus corpus.

I live in Chico, California currently. It's known as a party town; a college town. It is the only place that i have lived in which you can probably get away with walking down a side street drinking a beer or having a small party in your house. Locals seem to think that you used to be able to party like crazy here, but to me it seems like you can as I have spent most of my early 20's in the Bay Area where your neighbours are happy to call the police on you if you are playing relatively-loud music or even having a car that doesn't have current registration in front of your house. They also complain about how many cops there are in Chico, but to me it doesn't seem like there are all that many so apparently there has been quite a rise as the Bay Area has more cops than civilians.

I have noticed DHS cop cars in the Bay Area in recent trips. I haven't dealt with them yet, but when you have Federal Agents patrolling, you are in trouble. I do believe that martial law was declared right in front of our faces.

Just the other night, I saw a car get pulled over right in front of my house. You couldn't miss it because these LED lights were tripping out people all over town. I saw a cop w/ a shotgun posing in the bushes right in front. I figured that there was an incident. Nope! A car full of 21 year olds. The driver may have been drunk. Three were women. There had to have been ten cops aiming guns at these yuppyish college kids the whole time. I only could believe it because I have been there before.

Police state we are in!

Yes and only the bad guys would complain about this , I was in California a month ago and I noticed changes in many areas that was onced considered bad areas , now you can clearly see that it was safer than a few years ago , and yes I did run into police officers more often than I did before , while I was there I witnessed a police chase and I swear there were about fifteen police cars chasing that one runaway car , It seemed to me that many of the so called bad ones moved away or forced out by the pressure of not only the police but the communities coming together to watchout for each other and reporting any suspicious activities in the area , as you may know California has the three strike and you're out law in effect and many convicted felons are just too scared to spend the rest of their life in prison and so they move to another state ,

Wow, can you say paranoia? You see one incident in one city, and that is justification to assume martial law?

They probably just purchased them, and were delivering them to the department.

Now take your medication and calm down.

Even in our town in Maine we have upped our patrols. Due to the economy, the lay offs, the shut downs. People are starting to get desperate and are going to do things they never thought they would do. So the extra patrolling is an extra precaution. All it is doing is trying to deter people from committing crimes instead of having to respond to them in progress.

Police presence usually makes alot of people think twice about what they are going to do. So this is a good thing..
