My side window was broken with a red handled flat bladed screw driver.
I know this from my own examination (in my own time and with no public expense I might add).
I think I know who did it as well but can't prove it.
Nothing happened through lack of evidence. Its just one of those things. |

No, someone nicked our aerial, and another time they danced on the bonnet and we had to get a new one. But never been broken into. |

Twice about 30 years ago. My first car and pride and joy. A 9 year old Ford Anglia 1000cc
1. Outside a Examination hall where I was taking an Accountancy exam. the brake pedal had been bent up to the clutch in an attempt to take off a Koo clock. (spelt incorrectly) Cost of repair nil bent it back by hand. New Koo clock though
2. At my firms staff car park . The car was recovered the next day. The thermostat had jammed. Cost of repair £1.50
Known after that as the car which would not be stolen. That car took me and my family all over UK without a problem for 7 years. rear window latch kept on dropping off |

Hell yes...it was a regular event when i lived in Bradford, they never managed to actually nick any of my cars as i usually immobilised them myself by removing either the fuel pump fuse or the rotor arm,but i did get fed up of having to replace the ignition , steering lock ,and door lock...now i live on the East coast it's a thing of the past |

i have had two swiped-but the second one was the best-
when the theiving little toerag nicked it i was in the process of waiting for parts for the brake master cylinder-to all intemts and purposes the car looked ok-it's just that it had no brakes-so when the scroat nicked it he sped off down the road-tried to brake-hit a wall and broke his nose and jaw-aaahhh yes! sweet revenge.
a good immobilisation tip is to fit a switch (well hidden) in line to the fuel pump power supply (if the pump is gear driven then the ignition line will do) flick it on when you are in the car-flick it off when leaving the car it can be hidden under the dash drivers seat or disgiused as a light switch-works wonders i fitted mine myself (in my third car) but as with any electrical work-get expert advice first. |

Yes :(
The first time it happened, I'd just put my bag and leather jacket in there as I was off on a night out, then decided to go by bus and didn't remove my belongings - thieves removed them for me :(
The 2nd time it happened, there was nothing in the car to steal, so they removed my teddies and sat them on the roof - IN THE SNOW!!!!! They also smashed the window which they didn't need to do because they had broken then lock!! |

No thank goodness, but have had petrol and wipers stolen from car a few years ago. Nothing happened even though 10 cars were done on the same night in the village. |

Yes.
It was a crap car, with a big gaping hole where the stereo would usually be.
They broke the window - I have no idea why. It was clear there was absolutley nowt inside to take.

Yes.. by a young yob of a neighbour..I had witnesses who told the police who it was but then when the police went round his Mum and Dad said it wasn't him. The witness then retracted her story due to be frightened and the cctv camera wasn't working so he got off with it and then I had to put up with him smirking at me everytime I seen him!
Fantastic justice system we have! |

Yeah....definatly DO NOT have an older car in N Manchester...my post code M26 is considered the worse.
Have had cars broken into for radios..had cars stolen for joyriding in..
Have even caught someone doing the lock(thats one guy who first got a shock then a half brick to the head!)...and would never have got the car started coz it had an immobilizer on it too.
No point taking plug leads/distributor cap or battery out..they bring their own! |

I had a car broken into some years ago, and the stereo taken, leaving the wires all hanging out of the console, cheeky bugger even locked the doors again after doing it, didn't know it had happened till I went to switch the radio on, reported it to police, but they didn't think they'd find who did it, or get the stereo back.... They were right! later found out that several neighbours had trouble with tampered car door locks, mine must have turned out to be the easiest to open. got a cheap replacement stereo and new, more secure locks for car, and put it down to experience, I hope someone, somewhere liked the car stereo they got from their kid for Christmas that year. |

Sadly I live in West Yorkshire which has the highest car crime rate outside London.
Since 2000 I have had five cars stolen and another 7 broken into, usually by bending the door out.
There has never been anything worth stealing so I assume they were being targeted by joyriders.
I had a Renault Clio where they snapped the steering wheel off trying to break the steering lock!
If you put an alarm on it the just bash it to set it off continually until the neighbours complain to the police about the noise!
On this estate it is 2 16 YOs who do most of the damage but although they have been lifted time and time again all that happens is a wee fine, and in one case 30 days in jail for his 27th offence.
They should just lock him up and throw away the keys! |

Yes. I used to own an MG. Stupidly left my bag in it and someone slashed the soft top and pinched it. Found it later emptied all over a neighbours lawn. |

yes, but only the once.
Was having a night out with some old uni friends.
got back to the car and the front window was smashed.
the little bugger had taken an MP3 player, Sat Nav and a few more bits and pieces.
The police got involved and I had to go to the main city police station.
Gave a statement and thought nothing of it...
I was shocked when the officer called me to tell me they had got him....
The joke was on him though as they was a new lap-top in the boot.. lol |
