once it was about 3:00 in the morning and i got pulled over for rolling through a stop sign and going 42 in a 25 (but the only sign saying that was behind me as i rolled through the turn)
he seemed like he was just glad i wasn't drunk and let me go
but i'm a guy.....so i also have one speeding thing that i didn't get away with |

yes, but it was in the days before the politicians zombified the police force. |

Got stopped once for going "a little quickly" on a motorway. Policeman gave me a talking-to then said as there was little traffic (about 3am) and as my driving was fine apart from this, just take heed of what he'd said!
Real policemen (in the UK) have some sense & initiative, unlike cameras. |

yes, once in schaumburg il,
it was 1:00am, and i got off the highway, and changed 4 lanes to make another turn, in front of the police car, and did not stop at the redlight to make a right turn, which technically is running through a stop sign.
was stopped, but he was kind enuf to let me go, u could say i talked my way out of it quite effectively.
i am not a woman/girl
but i guess it would have helped, but then again, i have always dreaded being stopped by a woman officer, men just dont know how to talk their way out of the female officer.
id luv to date this officer who stopped me three times in chicago, and every time i ended up getting a ticket. |

I once got stopped for speeding in Hammersmith but did stop at the Red light so was let off with a caution. Not bad for 48 years on the road eh. |

I got stopped for speeding in Louisiana and thought I was going to be shot. I had heard terrible things about cops in Louisiana. It may well have been that I was about to cry that he let me off and just told me to be easier on the gas in future. |

Yes. About 10 years ago my wife(now ex-wife)and I were coming back at night from a visit with my son at college. It was dark and I didn't see the cruiser. He pulled me over for speeding. After getting my license and going back to his cruiser to check me out, I thought, well give it a try, you've got nothing to lose. When he returned to my vehicle I said, "Officer would you mind if I got out and we talked". He said sure. I got out, we walked to the back of my vehicle and I said, "Officer, I've been traveling for the last couple of hundred miles listening to her ***** and I was just in a hurry to get home and get away from her." He looked at me and said, "Sir, I've got one at home just like her. Just slow it down and take it easy." |

I had a missionary neighbour in Tanzania who was caught riding his motor scooter with his wife and 3 or 4 of this 6 children as pillion passengers plus a suitcase. The police officer pulled him over. "Let us pray!" said my neighbour, and proceeded to do so at great length, thanking God for the vigilance of this diligent police officer and asking that countless blessings be poured over his head. When he opened his eyes again, the police officer hurriedly waved him away! I shall bear this in mind if I'm stopped! |

I've been pulled over several times for speeding, but I've never gotten a ticket or even a stern warning. |

The Police have a certain amount of desertion in the UK.
If your offence was minor or border line and you appear to have learn a lesson from your mistake then a verbal warning is often given.
Unfortunately the Government's constant meddling is reducing Officers discretion and putting pressure on Officers for conviction statistics in the name of road safety (or is it pressure to issue more tickets to get more fines in to government coffers?) Both eroding that Officer discretion. |

Of course, I'm a woman. I get a 'we hate to give our residents tickets, here's my card and please slow down.' For my husband, unfortunately, they run his plate and see a piggy-bank on wheels. |

Well, I try real hard not to break the traffic laws. But sometimes you run into a cop out to make a quota, and then you're SOL. |

once i "rolled" a stop sign and was speeding and got out of it because the cop got called on something more important. |

Yes. I have a CDL though and that seems to help. |
