My unfairest ticket was just after picking up speed after stopping at a red light. The explanation was "I am enforcing the 30-40 speed limit".
Fortunately, those who contested did not have to pay

You can go to court and dispute it. If the cop doesn't show to court (they usually do because they get paid overtime) then you have a good chance of winning. Ask to see a copy of the cop's testing/maintenance records that he needs to do to keep his radar or laser gun equipment up to accuracy standards. Of course, they can show you records that have been altered, so even though they shouldn't be doing that, they do. Were there a lot of other cars around you that were passing you, and you were the one they chose to pull over vs. the ones that were speeding past? Did he say you were speeding and at what speed? He can't just say "I'm enforcing the 30-40 speed limit" and write up a ticket. At the very least, they will reduce your fine even if you don't win. Good Luck! |

I've only been stopped once. And I totally had it coming 83 mph in a 55 mph construction zone. (double penalty) But it was a Saturday and I was Honest with the officer.
He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over, and I sheepishly asked speeding? he replied in the affirmative and asked me how fast I though I was going and I said over 70 mph? and he said 83 mph. I just explained a really good song had come on the radio and my kids and my friend who were also in the car, we all started rockin' out and I must have lost track of my speed.
He let me go. |
