Have you ever known a police officer to tell a blatant lie?
|
Has anyone experienced, or known of a police offer to lie on oath in the witness box to cover their backs. Does this kind of thing actually happen in this day and age. Do you still trust the police or have you lost faith? Additional Details For the dishonest police officer who have purposely lied in court and seen an innocent person convicted, how do you sleep at night??

It's unfortunate in every walk of life people lie for whatever reason.
As an officer for over 35 years, I've learned one thing...it doesn't pay to lie on the stand or otherwise. My credibility, integrity, and reliability mean everything to me!
Of course if an officer is in an undercover capacity, he's going to use deception...but to lie on the stand...it's not worth my badge or reputation in the courts eyes to lie.
Officers don't win future cases after caught telling lies! |

Some years ago there were 2 murders of young girls in central England. A young man was arrested and 'made' a confession. In this he stated he had crossed his victims arms across their chests after he had killed them. The prosecution made a big point of that. Only the killer could have known how the victims were left.
Some months later another young man admitted that he had taken a DNA test posing as a man who didn't want to see the police. When the man who didn't want to see the police was tested his DNA linked him to the killings.
The police had lied, embellished the evidence, in order to secure the conviction of an innocent man.
The real killer was called Colin Pitchfork |

terrysainswhu:- Anyone can be a train driver, it isn't hard at all. In fact driving a bus is more difficult than driving a train . I would say it's definitely one of the easiest jobs out there and extremely well paid for a 35hour week. The salary of drivers who work for Virgin trains, put the salaries of social workers, teachers and police officer to shame.
There is however a large 'rule book' for train drivers............. but the largest rule book of all and the most complicated by a long way is;-
The 'LAW manual' : - so much so, that a person can only ever know a small part of it. |

I have personally experienced a blatant lie in the dock to convict me of a drink driving offence many years ago. I dislike that particular Police Officer for that action. I do not hate her wholly as a person nor do I hate the whole Police force. They are individuals. I would have been a terrible copper, I'd have battered people.
I think in order to be politically correct the Police have dropped the standards for their entry requirements which has degraded the quality of the Police force overall. One Officer said to me he disliked being paired with a tiny WPC because in a physical situation he was effectively on his own. I also think in an effort to be inclusive they have brought people in from cultures where the men are more chauvinistic and less democratic. They are still individuals though. |

The biggest mistake people make is to think that the Police are professionals they are not.
4 years to become a Teacher and Social Worker, 7 years a doctor, 2 years to become a Train driver!
13 weeks on how to hold a shield doesn't make you a professional.
they are just a bunch of Government slaves, end of story. |

Yes I have experienced that recently. My friends boyfriend decided one night to beat me up because he was drunk and he's psycho. I tried to escape by driving and the officer sided with my best friend with her words because she bribed the officer to not go through with the assault charge protecting her boyfriend. Thefore he lied under oath to the Magistrate and court making me look like a fool. The officer went as far as saying I had some mental disorder. Long story short, because I had the proof of what happened and my background clean I did not end up with a DUI and got a reckless driving. Due to this I don't trust that officer and feel his badged should be taken for not following law procedures correctly.
However, I don't let this situation have me think all cops are bad and loose trust in all of them. There are good ones out there. This situation that happened to me had me go into law school and criminal justice degree/forensics. Yes studying those degrees all at once. This is so my job will be to ensure the law is followed not only by citizens, but by ALL police officers too according to law enforcement procedures. |

yes! i have lost faith. police are no longer out to protect. they want to call everyone a criminal. actually I lost faith in Municipal police but believe in the OPP. through experience and stories I have heard I see municipal police someone out to make a name for themselves. The will arrest anyone that they think they have reason to. They are not aware of provincial laws. The municipality police take their power to extreme. it is like they have a contest with all other officers to see who can kill the most and who can arrest the most.
I lost my breaks and hit a sign and was accused of going around a corner too fast, then accused of lying my breaks died and then accused of drinking and driving while the officer was holding my hand sanitizer.
My man was arrested for possession of a weapon while wearing hunters orange on his way to the deer camp. Needless to say his father came in holding the gun laws saying what he was doing was legal at the time of day and if they continued to harass him and his family they would be sued.
In my city a man was shot down by municipal police because he was said to be carrying a gun and under probation. The weapon was his Cell phone. |

Not in court but I have quite often known them be extremely ignorant of the law which they are supposed to enforce. I have regularly known the Police claim something is illegal when I know fine well it is not. |
