I donâ€™t seem to understand your question. A police officer was doing his job - walking on the street at 11pm is legal, the officer did not stop you, question, or frisk you, but yet it was because you were black?

I would think that you would be happy that since you were two-blocks away knowing the police were there you would feel more comfortable than say a car of gang bangers popping up the curb to you.

Please elaborate more so I can better answer your question, though yours seems to be more rhetorical than inquisitive.

I'm white and I've been hassled by the cops. Here I am, legitimately working at night time in the company parking lot, and a car comes in and puts the spotlight on me. Not only did he put the spotlight on me, he actually got out of the car and demanded to see my ID. And then he had the nerve to ask what I was doing there!

Actually, he did put the spotlight on me, and he did get out and ask for my ID. And he did inquire about my reason for being there at night. Nothing beligerent, just checking, and when he was satisfied, he left me to do my work. I didn't think anything more of it since he was doing the job that I'd expect him to do.

So maybe it's not so much the color of your skin as its tenderness, Cupcake.

I honestly do not believe that race is an issue! I have had this happen to me as well, being a Caucasian female. I think many times it depends upon the area in which you live. I resided in Charlotte, NC when these things have happened to me. It is a large city with alot of crime. No, I am not a criminal either, but please try not to use the race card, it is not just you.

There are "douche bag" cops everywhere in every police department. I had a run in with a cop when I had money stolen from me by an employee's girlfriend and I caught it on video. The cop said, "There was no crime committed". If that wasn't bad enough, my whole business was stolen by another employee on a day we were closed. The same cop told me "there was no crime committed" so I'm out $20,000 thanks to one lazy cop that wouldn't go after the SOB. Now if this wasn't bad enough, that same cop was parked behind my other business to get a hair cut but when he left, he backed his car into my Porsche. This was sort of like giving me a small cut and pouring salt into it.

Ther are scummy cops everywhere. BTW, I'm white and so was the cop so don't feel that you're the only one.

So...looking at you and patrolling the neighborhood makes someone a d-bag? Wow...if something like that makes you that mad you probably do need to be watched. It's not like he stopped you, asked for ID, frisked you, questioned you, etc. out of the million of other things he could have done. Get over it. It happens all the time no matter what color or gender you are.

Hey Smooth. calm down! The cop was just doing his job. 11 pm, dark, the cop couldn't see who you were. You weren't hassled, or questioned. Apparently you didn't look suspicious either. And yes, I have had the displeasure of working with a few DBs in my department. Don't rush to judgment. The cop may have been looking for a white guy.

if you dont think that happens too whites... you should live here and see the list of them in our newpappers that cops beat up on several occasions.... they got black eyes,, busted noses, broken ribs hands swollen up, you just dont know ....

I hope they dont delete your question because you need to READ and understand what people are saying here. almost everything in yoru first paragraph refers to facts that gave the oliceman GOOD reason to investigate:

1. its 11pm
2. The streets are lonely
3. you were several blocks away from ur apartment.
4. Smoking a cigarette (during the process of which your actions could arguably reveal signs that you are nervous abotu the presence of the police).

No matter WHAT race you are, if you started RUNNING the cop would persue you.

I am not saying there isnt racism in this world, i am just saying the scenario you described doesnt fit as a clearcut example of racism.

me not really personally
but this happened to a friend
was just walking with other friends and he randomly spits on ground, concidently a cop car passes next to him when he did that.
The cop gets out of car and starts cursing at my friend (you ******* did this on purpose... you provoking me, ill ******* take you to the p. department ect...)
and my friend is half black/white

Sounds like he was acting on skin color to me. Have you see
seen all the You Tubes where cops are tasering innocent drivers, who ask why they have been pulled over or what they are being ticketed or arrested for? Unbelievable. I never thought I would see the day we had a camera on every traffic light in the US. We need some way to defend ourselves. This needs to be reigned in now.

well i was messing around in an abandoned Tractor Supply Co. Building with some of my buddies , a little late at night

luckily the cop that came by never went inside the building to see a bunch of walls kicked out and exploded aerosol cans all over.
