More than likely a warrant has been put out and the first place they are going is your home.

EDIT: DO NOT DO NOT talk to the police. You need to have an attorney with you, without one they can twist your honesty into guilt. It's very easy to turn someone who is 100% innocent into a suspect. |

Statute of limitation should protect you, grab a lawyer and go whenever... but 7 years ago? That doesn't count anymore... and you would have been apprehended already because the police had your address probably if you are a witness.
And you won't go to jail... it is a first offense misdemeanor... not a felony... it was 7 years ago... the girl probably doesn't even remember.

they cant break down ur door without a warrent... u can go home...as for the fight and this huge mess uve gotten urself into here... best of luck... find new friends would be my advice... call um in and say u are not feeling good and will come in .....whenever u say u will... and ya |

Sounds like assault third degree. Call the detective, tell them you heard you had a warrant out for you and that you will be back in town on Monday morning and will turn yourself in. Ask what the bond amount is so that you can have it ready.
Remember, that if you do this, the warrant will still be active and any officer that you come in contact with in the mean time will arrest you for the warrant. |

ALWAYS be honest no matter what. cause if u lie it will come back and haunt u as in something bad will happen if u dont tell the truth. But if ur honest than something good will usually happen. and DONT be afraid to go home i doubt nothing bad will happen. dont be scared. |

I am sorry you are in such a tough situation. South Carolina cops, or southern cops in general, are really difficult to deal with. Although I don't have a very high opinion of police in general, I think that honesty is always the best policy, as they will ultimately come up with the better hand, and you will be at fault. Hoping that someone will hear your story and have mercy is not always a good thing, because it depends on whether or not you find the right person at the right time. I would be straight forward. Your situation is quite believeable, and I can see how something like that might happen to someone.
You can't run forever. It's best to face it head on and deal with it. Get it over with. |

It will be worst , be honestif you didnt do anything dont worry and try to get help from the attornys wife :) ask her for her opinion on all this , dont hide from the law becuase if you didnt do anything you have nothing to worry unless you shot her :O |

I don't know your location but here if u went down they would process u (finger printing and photo )then you would be released on promise to appear.Given that its only a complaint after the fact it will probably get thrown out of court . As for going aft the holidays --should be no problem for if they really wanted u they would have gotten u by now. But be advised if u got stopped by a cop between now and then you will be taken in due to the warrant.In other words they wont come looking for u but if they meet up with u some how they have to act on the warrant. |

Uh...If you don't go yourself, they may send an officer out to bring you in...Either way, you could be arrested...
You might not have anything to really worry about, since it was over 7 years ago...If you do get arrested, you will have a chance to defend yourself with an attorney... |

They're not gunnin' for ya. You can go home. Yes go in after the new year so that you don't have to spend the holiday in the klink. Come armed with your visa and/or some cash just in case. Odds are they would have arrested you back in '01 if they thought it was anything serious. |

I would call the detective back and let them know that you have consulted with an attorney, and that you have been advised to show up on the AM of Jan 2nd.
That way any legal proceedings that need to be accomplished can be handled all at once.
You should also take the business card of the attorney with you, in case you need to call for further help. |

If you go in they will processes you while you sit in the lobby and it should take about an hour. Then you will probably be issued a summons (like a speeding ticket) to appear in court some time in the future.
If they have to come get you, you will be handcuffed, perp walked to the police car (wave to the neighbors...oh I'm sorry you are hand cuffed) and then locked up. You may be held until the judge sees you, could be a few hours could be a few days.
Your choice.
Just curious, do you take medical advice from a doctors spouse? Do you let your electrician's wife fix your house wiring? |

If you have not been already arrested for a Failure to Appear on a warrant you didn't know was issued for your arrest back in 2001, then I think it's pretty safe to wait until monday to turn yourself over to the clerk of the court. I would not go turn myself in at the police station, because that will likely delay you being processed. It's very likely that since the warrant was issued back in 2001, and never pursued the prosecution would very likely drop the charges if you haven't been in any trouble since that time.

I advise you to skip country, it's obviously a trap. It sounds like they know the whole truth you are not telling us. I can see by your lack of paragraphs that the radio waves they are beaming to you though your electronic equipment are already damaging your brain. Unplug anything electrical in your house and get somewhere as remote as possible. It could be now that maybe you're too late even for skipping the country, it's all just a matter of time.
