Unfortunately, getting this resolved will require a lot of work on your part. You need to keep detailed logs of any communication you have with companies, individuals, etc.
Cancel existing cards or put a hold on them so that no further charges can be added.
Check out this website for more detailed steps that you can take:
http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs17a.htm#17
It tells you how to deal with the police, how to gather evidence, etc. It also tells you steps to take when you know the offender.
You also need to gather all of the evidence you currently have and take it to the school administration. They may be hesitant to take immediate action, so be prepared in case you need to clear out your stuff for a bit and crash with a friend.
You should also call one of the three credit bureaus (experien, transunion, equifax) to place a fraud watch on your credit. This will keep anyone from opening additional accounts using your name.
Numbers to call to report fraud:
Equifax:
800-525-6285
Experian:
888-397-3742
Transunion:
800-680-7289
The fraud watch will stay on your credit for 90 days unless you want to extend it.

If you don't have the resources to hire an attorney, then do what I did and go to legal Aid in your city or town, they are great! Also write a letter to your Attorney General Office. Or even better call them for information, good luck! |

If you filed a police report, you can then follow up by going to small claims court to sue them. You can sue for up to $5,000 but you better have proof and that you just didn't lend them the card because when you do that..its your own fault for giving them the information. |

Take her to court and have all your evidence with you. Make her pay! Record the evidence over the phone. Whenever she starts working on a nice job you could garnishee her wages etc. |

Identity fraud is illegal so the police have to do something about it, take the proof to the police station, file a report and then kick her lazy theiving as* outta your home. |

First of all you need to keep all of YOUR info under lock and key from now on. Secondly, call the other companies and give them the fax number to your local police department and DEMAND that they fax proof to to them immediately or you will turn them into your local better business bureau for not handling business matters well and having poor customer service. |

Go to the college authorities! Ask them to move her out.
Gather as much evidence as you can then go to the police again. If the cops won't do anything, complain to the Sherriff's Office.
Record the phonecalls to the credit card companies etc - although these may not be used in a court of law.
Set her up!! Allow her to use your credit card then, when she's out shopping - call the police and Credit Card company and report it stolen.
Use scissors to cut-up all her belongings until she pays it all back! |

You would need to report your roommate to the police...if you don't want to do that then I guess you have to just deal with letting your roommate be you. |

CALL THE COPS IMMEDIATELY! Force them to give you the evidence. This is very much so illegal and your roommate needs to be arrested and live on a jail sentence for a long time. The cops may get the evidence for you if you persuade them well enough. This is a serious crime. |
