I am a college graduate and looking into Fire and Police depts. my question is does military experience, as in being currently in the reserves, look good in the hiring process, will this help you get on somewhere? thanks

Military experience might be helpful, but probably will not be the one thing that will keep you out or get you in - unless its Military Police experience. |

Police officers are called upon to assess situations that require a degree of maturity and an open mind to resolve. The more "worldly", or life experience a person has the better police officer they will make. This, along with diversity, is promoted in the military environment, so yes it will be a plus for either PD or FD. Thank you for taking time to serve your nation. |
