Home Invasion help!!?

In January, an ex- girlfriend was arrested for an assault with a knife. She recently pled guilty to some sort of misdemeanor and is now on probation for it.

Last night, I was on the computer and heard a noise coming from downstairs. About 5 minutes later, she was opening my bedroom door and holding a knife or some metallic object. She seemed to be very startled to see that I was still up and when I yelled at her, she took off. Several minutes later, I went downstairs to see how she got in, and found an old tire propped up against my house with my window was open. What should I do at this point? I was going to call 911, but I have no proof she was in my house and I don't wanna piss her off if they don't do anything about it. This may cause her to become even crazier and come for me again. My main concern is, what would she have down if I was sleeping, you know?

Report the crime to the police. It's possible she left all sorts of evidence behind that she was there, from fingerprints, to hair and blood for DNA. I know of several burglars who were tripped up because they cut themselves as they were breaking into a home.

Call the police. Tell them what happened. Show them how she got in. You don't have to prove it was her, chances are she left her fingerprints & drool on the windowsill.

Call the police, ask them to keep a look out, and told them what you saw... last thing you need is the crazy girl stabbing you in your sleep, that will spoil any dream... have you considered a gun and alarm system?

If she touched ANYTHING while she was in your house you may have finger prints. Also if she has a history, they'll probably take your word over hers. If she's already comming at you with a knife, what's there to lose? On top of that you could buy a gun for your own protection as long as you don't have kids or anything.

Call the police. Ask their advise on how to secure your home. A dog (any size) and a gun will help.

You really need to report her. Invading an ex BF's house holding a knife is not a trivial thing. Tress pass is also not to be tolerated.
Go to a police station and ask to speak to somebody there who will be able to tell you what you should do about it.

Call the police and get a restraining order asap. And make sure everything is locked and shut at all times of the day and before bed. And it wouldnt be bad to get a dog also....a guard dog maybe in your case...

Sounds like she would have killed you, just get better locks on your windows and doors and keep your 44 magnum ready..........................

I would seek a no-contact order from the court system. that way if she ever does come after you or even contact you in any way (letters, email, phone, etc.) you can just have her locked up, sounds like she needs it.

You should have called 911 or have contacted your local prosecuting attorney. It sounds as though she were planning on stabbing you while you were asleep. This happened here at the complex we live at. Only her boyfriend repeatedly stabbed her while she slept. Luckily she survived but this is what could have happened to you. Stay safe!

In your situation, I would buy either a pistol (size won't matter) or a shotgun (just in case you want that psychological attack as well), but the shotgun is probably unnecessary, as this girl sounds CRAZY. Barricade your room, perhaps with a few sandbags (can't be too hard to make or buy, just a burlap sack filled with sand.) File a police report, get a restraining order, follow all precautions in order to deter this maniac.

Oh, fnk, a lot of people have died in home invasions. It's no horror movie. In fact, I bet karma will kill you that way. Get a life.
