I was wrongfully ticketed by my city for parking in the street. The officer said I can't park anywhere in my city on the streets between 2am-5am. I asked to see a sign, they couldn't show me one because they're only on the OUTSKIRTS of the city. So, the only time you can see them is driving 45 mph past the sign once while entering the city.
How can I go about changing this law they have in effect? I want them to change their signs to "No parking on streets between 2am-5pm in severe weather conditions" on each subdivision entrance.

I would check your cities codes. In mine they can't enforce something that is not clearly posted. For example, when the speed limit changes, it also need to be clearly visible. To not have an occasional sign reminding people that it is illegal to park on the streets at these times doesn't seem right.
Talk to the city council, I would also talk to the chief of police. The usual way to bring attention to something that should be changed is to start a petition and get signatures from other people who feel the same. Then bring it to the attention of the proper authorities and show that there is enough concern for them to make an official recommendation to change that law. |
