Well that will probably show up. |

If you were arrested as an adult, than that will be on your criminal history report.
If you were arrested as a juvenile, and they did not adjudicate you as an adult and charge you in adult court, then it will not show up on your criminal history report.
Best I can give you for what you offered.
One last thing... if you want to run an official Criminal History Report on yourself, go to your local police and they will explain to you how to get one. It is a small administrative fee to obtain and it will tell you exactly what is, if anything, on your record Nationwide. |

It depends on what kind of check they do.Many commercial background check companies used by employers miss loads. On the other hand, there are a few REALLY good ones that find out absolutely everything. In general, if your prints were taken and entered into the fingerprint system, they'll show up as a charge on a background check.
So the question becomes.does this MATTER? well, if the application asks if you've ever been charged with a crime and you said 'no' and they catch you lying, it matters. On the other hand, if it asked if you've ever been been convicted, then you didn't lie.
If the company is one of the rare companies that uses a private person to do a check -- either a skip tracer or a PI -- they'll discover more. If they do a state police check, it just depends on how the individual state works their police checks.
by the way, several posters have said that if you were a juvenile, it will 'disappear'. It may, but it may not. a lot depends on how good the agency or group running the check is. Same thing for expungement -- we don't recommend expungements (which can only be done AFTER conviction anyway) because they aren't worth the attorney's fees. Law enforcement still keeps the records even though expunged, and even a mediocre investigator will find them.
You can explain a mistake to a potential employer -- you were young etc., but you cannot explain a lie on an application, so always let that be your guide. |

You asked this question once in a different form and you still haven't given us enough information.
Were you convicted or did you plead guilty????
It makes a difference in the answer. |

You can go to the local county courthouse and have a back ground check run on you...you will need your drivers license. They might require a fee...mine was $15 (it may be vary by state) |

See my answer to your other and that is the same.
Yes, a record for petty theft will show up. But only if it happened after the age of majority (18) A juvenile record can't be opened, but they can see that there IS one and make up their own minds up.
Unless you get it expunged after 7 years it will be on your record forever. Things like that don't just "drop off".
Good luck to you! |

It depends on whether it is a state or federal check. What was the outcome? Petty theft is a misdemeanor so it probably won't be a big deal. Just don't lie on the application. That'll get you everytime!
Were you a juvenile when it happened? |

There is a difference between an "arrest" and a formal charge. The fact that your subject was "arrested" may not show up on our report if the prosecutor or district attorney did not authorize a formal charge. We only report criminal charges formally filed in a court. If someone was "arrested" and released without a formal charged filed, it will not be included in our report. |

Most companies only look for felony arrests, DUI, or violent crimes that could lead to liability on their part if you end up doing something stupid again.
On the other hand, if you're applying for any kind of job with a cash register, bank account, or money processing involved that petty theft will probably nail you. |

there are several search sites that you can use for criminal background checks on the internet usually costs a few dollars.............generally backgrond checks only show convictions not ongoing cases |
|

In Colorado anyways, if you were convicted but given a deferred sentence than your criminal history will show up as dismissed, if you did not complete your deferred or have a felony it will show up just as it is. |

Depends on the level of the check...there is city, county, state, and federal. In your situation, yes it will show the charge as well as the outcome. Also, with mentalchallenge's answer above you can get it expunged but it will take a court order to do so. |

well, that will probably show up. You know your past. Anything criminal that you were found guilty of will show. Just assume it will be there, that way if it isn't you are not losing anything. If it is a job that is doing the background check, just be up front. Trust me, they prefer honesty to finding out through a background check. At least you can give some explanation. |

Depends on how long ago and the state for that matter. Some states remove misdemeanor's after a certain amount of time. Some never do. Best bet always be honest, it's always possible they'll catch it in the end. |

Run a background check on yourself using intelius. It will dig up EVERYTHING about you. It costs about $50 or $60. |

If you were not an adult when it happened then it shouldn't be on your permanent record.
If you got court supervision and completed the required fines and community services then it should be expunged from your records.
You should really pay more attention to this kind of crap. They explain all this stuff to you in court.
Call your lawyer or find a police friend nice enough to run your name and see what shows in their database. |

Well this depends on what type of background check. Are you looking for a job? Trying to get into the Army? Trying to get insurance? If you are worried about the petty theft incident, what age were you when this happend? If you were 18, then you shouldnt have anything to worry about since its just a misdemeanor and records clear when you turn 18. |

It depends on the background check.... more than likely it will show up ... depending on your job if you explain it prior to them doing a BC you should be OK |

Sitting on your computer. You must know this is the computer
age. and computers are used in background checks.
Employers want to know how you are going to "benefit" them.
Not "steal" from them.
So on any application. tell the truth, and you stand a better
chance of "getting a second chance." Good Luck. <}:-}) |

How old were you when that happened? We're you found guilty? If is was dropped or you were under 18 it might not show up. Also depends who is doing the check. Is this an employer? Military? |

If you were over 18 that will for sure show up.
Run one on yourself at Intellus.com
Costs about 40 or 50 bucks. |

if you were charged it will most likely show up. were you a legal age? The only way you can see what will show up is for you to do a background check yourself or wait it out. |

Hey, as a Law student, I am 99% this will be shown on a background check, but so will the offence and so minor offences will generally not ruin your chance of say employment, too much. Espercially is this was a while ago. |

Well, one thing to do is to buy one yourself and they'll send you the information as well. You can buy them anywhere off of the internet, as long as you have a credit card or paypal or something. Here are a couple of sites for you to look at. I hope they help. |
