Okay, so here's the deal.
I just turned 16.
I've missed 56 days this school year?
About 50% of those were excused with parent permission or doctor's notes.
I was about to miss one day, and the attendance guy came to my door.
He told me if I didn't wake up, get dressed, go to school.. and go to school from NOW on.. ON TIME.. and EVERY DAY.. that he would file a court sopena against me and I would get 1 of these two options:
Jail for 90 days
or Being permanently taken away from my home and put into a girls shelter until I'm 18.
Okay, so here's the problem.
I've got a sopena filed against me, for NO REASON.
I've been to school EVERYDAY and ON TIME.
I have not missed a day and I have not been late at all..
and now it's spring break, and I get a phone call from the sheriff's office.
I've literally done nothing wrong.. and this guy has flat out lied to me.
He set my court date for April 30th - so that when I go to JUVY, I will be in there.. until the SUMMER is COMPLETELY over.
What should I do?!?! How can I get out of this?!?!
and if I can't.., what should I expect from female juvy?

Man, I missed 56 days a long time ago. It has been MONTHS since I've ever been late or missed and he just randomly files one. Yes, I realize that my absences were wrong doing.. but since he came to my door.. I have done nothing. Nothing at all. I've had a lot of illnesses and sleeping problems - and trouble with people at school in general. I've been working on raising my grades - oh - and did I mention that once I go to juvy, I will be working on my GED and forced to quit high school? Most of you can't read and jump to conclusions.

I don't know what's going on in this situation....maybe I'm not aware of everything I could be, but I know you aren't giving enough details. |

O.K. Here is what you do.You said 50% of the time you had an excused absence right? You say this and stick to it- "Because I was absent due to ....illness I got so far behind it was very difficult for me to catch up on work and relate socially.I have a new start now and I am going to school every day I am not in a Doctors office.I have solved the problem with....keeping caught up with my work,talking to my Parents and the School Counselor,etc.Thank you Judge...
Smile and keep quiet while he/she tries to scare you.Then wait and breathe deeply.More than likely the Judge will either let you go or put you on probation.Dont let these hacks in here scare you.The Courts are flooded with real criminals.The Judge just wants to know WHAT the problem is,What you have done about the problem and HOW you will prevent it in the future-so he.she doesnt see you again.Good Luck |

dont get emotional.
dont have outbursts.
A wile ago i was sent to a rehab clinic for a few things that were not true.
my step dad lied and said i was cutting myself and shooting up....
they send me in even though i had no scars or trac marks.
after a wile they realised their misatakes........
so even if it does happen you can still get out. |

If you've missed 56 days of school and half of those were with your parents' permission, there is something seriously wrong with your parents. there is absolutely no reason for someone to be absent that much unless you've got a serious illness. Maybe you need to be at a shelter where you can learn to be responsible and your parents definitely need parenting classes. |

I don't know where you live, but in my state, you can drop out any time you want once you reach high school.
Since you don't seem to want or care to get an education, and it doesn't seem to matter much to your parents, why not just quit? Stop wasting the officials and the courts and the schools time. And enjoy being a waitress at a roadhouse the rest of your life. |
