How can an adult female who attacks a 16yr old child , get away with a caution ?

It happened once to my then 8 year old son, he had a arument with this womans daughter so she strangled my son and punched it, she actually denied it although other neighbours witnessed what she done. she got a caution for what she done.
its a disgrace what people can get away with these days,
but the inocent have to suffer.

I'm not sure a 16 year old is a "child". I've known some fairly big and mean 16 year olds.

i'm sure a quick search of the local news will find several examples of 16 year old's doing the same to adults and their peers and also getting cautions, and most likely have committed several offenses beforehand.

It's a ridiculous system where prison sentences are given out through pot-luck and if we are really lucky, once they get to prison they don't get let out accidentally.

without knowing the facts - I don't know. I know some teenagers (16 is not a child) are very violent and abusive.

I'm an adult, I'm 5'2, 107 lbs. 16 isnt what i would call [a child] all i know is if a 16 year old hit me damn right im gonna hit back, I dont care it its 14 years old their damn abusive and violent now days

Depends on why it happened in my opinion. A 16 yo is almost physically completed.

There is nothing to say you couldnt see a solicitor and take out a private prosecution against this woman. Make sure the Police took photographs of your daughters injuries or has seen her Doctor and had the Injuries recorded. Also witness statements need to be kept by the Police. Write a letter to the officer in Charge of the Police Station Concerned...or your solicitor could do that asking that witness statements need to be kept for a private prosecution.
No dont let her get away with it.....If you have a case your Solicitor should prosecute on your daughters behalf..

A 16 year old is not a child nor an adult. By 16 better judgment and good sense should have been instilled.

Respect is earned, you give respect and you get respect.

The adult with no record had to have been pushed to the wall.

this only happens if the 16 year old was part of the problem...she had wittiness's they had to be her friends .... the officer probably thought they were part of the problem also... check her friends

yes legally they are children ..but at the same time the law understands that they are old enough to be prosecuted as adults when their behavior get out of control....

when as parents we close our eye to that .... we encourage them to hide behind the law... and run to mommy when they get in over their head... not saying that is what happened but as parents we need to be honest with our self about our children's behavior... get all the facts before we jump....

A 16 y/o is still considered a "child" by law. However, they also know right from wrong and can be held accountable for their actions too. That being said, an adult should show restraint when dealing with a teenager or younger "child", however, what did your daughter do or say to the woman to provoke the attack? You're daughter is not perfect and had to have done something. Did you ask her "What did you do"?! No? Maybe you should have and still should to get to the bottom of the situation. Maybe she provoked the attack and that's why the woman only received a warning/caution. Sorry if the "truth" stings.

Do you have doctor bills ? you can sue for the medical expenses.

If you are a witness and the parent go to the police , hire a lawyer and press charges ...

Unfortunately, this is down to the sad little world we live in. I honestly dont know as you say, how a woman can get away with doing that to a child, she has commited a very serious crime of GBH and people who do that normally get a serious prison sentence, especially for a minor.

Although I am an adult, I was assaulted at my work as a minor at 17 by two Brazilian men. Although I got them sacked quite rightly, nothing was done otherwise. These men are now walking around my college where there are many minors and vulnerable young women.

Our justice system seriously needs a makeover! It's revolting that people can do that to kids and minors. Makes me sick when you have paedophiles getting menial sentences.
