How can you find out a person's police record?

Most of the time police records are maintained at the police departments, and are available for a fee.

If the person you are researching has lived in a specific area for a long period of time you may have some luck by going to the county or state court house. Most of them will allow you to conduct searches by case name. ie, (state) vs John Doe.

Checking surrounding counties is also helpfull, but your best bet is simply picking up the phone and asking an Officer.

Criminal record are a matter of public access. If you catch any resistance you may be able to cite the Freedom of Information Act.

Don't need a lawyer. Arrests are public record! Cops are paid with tax money, our money, therefore everything they do must be public record except for investigation techniques and ongoing investigations. Go to the police departments and sheriff offices where this man has lived and ask to see the records. If they give trouble, get freedom of information act form from the local U.S. Govt. building (Post Office). Keep pushing and they'll cave!

Depending upon the state you are in, you can do a criminal background search for free and/or online. However, I recommend going online to the government site of the state you need to do the search. That should be able to lead you in the right direction.

umm, there are certain agencies that do this. But you can only do so, if you are employing that person or something in similar fashion. Otherwise, it is not allowed as it will invading some one's privacy.

Call the police on your neighbor. When they park the car out in front of their house, bust into the police car and so a criminal background search on them. Make sure to completely shave your body and wear a complete body suit including gloves. Then pour powered bleach on the car fo the forensic people can't do a search for DNA from you. Oh, and in case I forgot to mention it, dress like a ninja if possible.

type in a search engine: ccap "the state". or search the states circuit court records.

Most counties will have court records online and available to the public. Of course, their records will be limited to their county. You may have to search several counties. If the person has a more colorful record, i.e. many counties, states, countries, you may have to hire a private investigator.

Well, you can get a lawyer to subpeona it, but you have to have a legal reason to request it. Why do you need it?

In wisconsin you can search for Wi circuit court access, and enter their name and bday. all states are different. In michigan you can only do that for prisoners.

You can usually access the records through your states bureau of criminal apprehension. There are also websites that will provide a detailed accounting also. I've included a link for one that I have used in the past.

I went to Iowa courts online. Go to your state & do the same. This is a free service but only gives you general info. For a small fee (yearly) you can get more detailed info that can be really interesting. Good luck.
