How do i write someone in prison?

I want to write my cousin who is in prison.I have his Prison ID number and the prison he is in,Is that all I need? Do I need to mail the letter in a special envelope? Thanks

Call the jail and double check if you are concerned. Just be aware that they check all incoming mail to make sure there isn't anything in there that shouldn't be.

No special envelopes, be sure to put the ID # on all correspondence especially the envelope.

make sure you put the inmates name,number,and the correct section number and don't send any polaroid pictures because of the glue on them and it's also wise to include the middle initial in the name in case someone has the same name and the inmate number is overlooked.
