Why stop? As said before, evading is a more serious offense. You will have a difficult time out running the radio. Every officer loves to assist in a pursuit and search. As noted, a lot of motorcycle pursuits end in the cyclist going down with significant injury. You won't be rammed, you won't have the spike strip used, you won't be shot at. What you will end up doing is looking over your shoulder as you ride wondering if you plate was noted and the law "is a comin". |

Tell you what go ahead and run. because that moving violation that you where going to be pulled over for. just turned into felony evasion, and resisting arrest. so when you crash your bike into the side of the guard rail and you break your back, you can spend the next few weeks in jail thinking about it |

they either corner you or let you crash and burn and then sweep up the pieces. sometimes they wait till you are off your bike then they nab you. but i prefer the crash and burn, it makes for good blood and guts news. |

They don't stop you on most occasions. The road hazards stop you first. The police just pick up the pieces.
As for the other half of your question: "Honestly, I mean what's to stop me from running?"
It should just simply be the fact that it's against the law to run. Why does it have to be more then that? |

Once you fail to stop for police, it is no longer a "moving violation" it is a criminal code matter (flight from police).
For speeding and flight police won't sideswipe (at least here in Canada) and won't use spikebelts at they are likely to result in serious injury or death to the driver....too bad. |

The few motorcycle pusuits we have had end in the cyclist crashing out. We don't have a copter available, but it would be handy. |

If ya watch cops, most of them bite the dust, so motorcycles don't fare to well. |

Most are trained to treat it like they would any other motor vehicle. There are many techniques: Boxing the vehicle in, blocking, bumping, etc. I vave heard of them using spike strips on motorcycles before. I have also seen videos (there's a good one on Youtube) of an officer chasing a motorcycle and bumping it with his cruiser knocking him over at 60 mph.
A fleeing criminal must be stopped as quickly as possible, there's just a greater risk of an idiot on a motorcycle being killed if he chooses to run from the police. Better him than an innocent person. |
