How do we deal with the dirty cops in this country?

You can't...... Most of the police force in this country like all countries are crooks. The government is crooked and that's who they work for. We as nation, now live in a police state. They don't care about yours or anybodies welfare, but only what they can "discover" about you. They owe their allegiance in serving and protecting the state ONLY, not you.

I never experienced it until my Grandson was stopped for speeding. The cop told him that if he paid the fine ($200) on the spot. The ticket would go away. He paid it and the ticket still showed up on his record.

Find them, fire them, get them off the street.

By insisting that when a cop commits a crime - any crime! - that they be executed. Just the same way as there is "assault" and "assault against a police officer" "murder" and "murder against police officer". What are we saying, that a cop's life is worth more than yours or mine? If anything, it's worth less, especially if they're dirty which 99.9999999 percent of them are.

It's really very simple just assign them to the prison and let the general prison population take care of it for you! What do you think of the Petersen cop that killed his third wife and now his 17 year old fourth wife is missing! The cops covered for this pos when his third wife died, now his fourth is probably dead because of their collusion and conspiracy. When he's formally charged I'd bet the ranch you never hear another thing about the officers that hid her death!

This is how citizens can deal: Write a citizen's complaint form, and turn it in to Internal Affairs. You pick up a form right at the police station, and chances are someone will try to discourage you from turning it in, and rather have you talk about it... The fact is, talking about it in private will not stop the offense from happening again. Just file your statement.

This is how the cops deal: Internal Affairs gets the complaint, and dismisses it when a video tape does not prove wrongdoing. The cop may get a slap in the wrist and be sent to sensitivity training, or what have you. The complaint, and results of the "investigation" remain in his personnel record, though, and may be exposed later on under FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to back up another complaint by someone escalating it...

This is how you can take action beyond being ignored: As a public servant, the actions of the cop are subject to public scrutiny. If the situation grants it and you were ignored, take it a step beyond and let the Mayor of the town know what is going on with his boys. It may seem like he does not care, but he minds his politics and the reputation of the town he manages. Something may happen in private ;-)

For all those in here with negative comments about cops feel free to not dial 911 and fend for yourselves when someone robs you next time. Dirty Cops are dealt with even more so than "normal" citizens, they are also publicly embarassed and made an example of with punishment beyond what the normal joe citizen would receive. If you aren't happy with your treatment by the police and your feelings are hurt, dont break the law. Other than that, get a complaint form and take a number and get in line.

You have a right to report what you feel is inappropriate to their supervisors or their branch of internal affairs but don't expect to be informed of any findings. Numerous complaints from different sources of a similar nature start to give credence to allegations. Also the local paper or news media will be interested if your story is juicy enough.

In Chicago the special drug unit just got caught that they've been robbing people for the last several years. Cops in the unit are now trying to put hits out on each other. We had another cop beat up a female bartener because she wouldn't serve his already drunk a$$. When the police were called on duty officers tried to bribe and then threaten her into not telling. We also had cops beat up some out of town businesmen, again they treid to cover it up. A cop in the west burbs of Chicago is now in trouble for murdering two of his wives, no surprise he wasn't arrested after killing the first one. Even good cops seem to try to help bad cops cover there tracks. Send all the dirty ones to jail and let the killers and rapists who hate cops have atem.

How is it possible when this year a politician put through a motion in Parliament to disallow investigation into their expense finances. I say put the dirty coppers in the same prison with people that they have arrested

cops are part of us. cops and military are the other side of the so called civilised world. you can't observe themin isolation. do you know what type of orientation they are getting when they are recruited? they are the part of the machinery called the state/government. they are the mirrors of us and our government. they can't be evaluated in isolation as if the rest of the machinery i e we are completely ok. Are we OK? When we aspire for a power/power hub i e part of govermnment you need invariably the system of policing. so review the whole state machinery in the right perspective.
