My friend made a racist prank call and it got traced back to him. How do you write an apology letter for this? It's Harder to start than you think please help! He doesn't want to go to Juvenile Hall and this might get him less time!!!

You don't. I wouldn't accept any kind of apology from someone who was only doing it to get something out of it. That's not an apology at all. Hope your friend rots in juvenile hall. |

Dear Mr.Whoever that I decided to prank call:
Im so sorry that I am an ignorant kid, who thought it would be funny to offend a complete stranger. I am writing this letter because I really dont want to go to juvi hall, and someone told me it would be the right thing to do. Truthfully I dont care if you accept it or not.. i really just want an easier punishment.

Actually, you don't write a letter. You go to the person and stand in front of them in person and admit what you did and apologize by looking them in the face when you say you're sorry. Then you ask for their forgiveness. If you can do that, then you are taking responsibility for what you did. |

I agree with Sparky. You CONFRONT the person and apologize. That is a genuine apology. Then SHOW that person that you mean it! |

Tell him to genuinely accept responsibility for his foolishness, and tell him to make a genuine act of contrition. As an example:
Go to the Museum of Tolerance and experience the entire tour (if you live in Los Angeles)
Volunteer for a full day at a homeless shelter
Volunteer for a full day with an advocacy group for the race that he insulted
Tell him to do one (or even several) things like this and then write about the experience and what he learned in his apology letter.
The fact that it may or may not influence his Juvenile Hall time is less than irrelevant. Any apology made from such a point of self interest is worthless. |
