How do you become a police officer?

What is the selection process? E.g. What do they look for? What tests must you pass? etc.etc.

Also, how would one go about being in the Mounted division, riding riot horses? I know you must do the 2 years probation as with any job in policing, but know nothing more than that on this topic.

Much information on this would be appreciated!

Also, to anyone that is a police officer: How do you find the job? Is it enjoyable? Would you reccomend it? And to whom? And why?

Any other information you think may be worthwhile to a girl seriously considering policing as a career, I would be very thankful for it =)

here in california they have a 6 month acadamy. after that you are elgible for hire :) it's that easy, of course if you dont' have a bad background. you're also ranked in you're acadamy. Cities visit and recruit out of the acadamy.

you can go into your local police station where you live, cop an eyeful of the best looking bobby there and flutter your eyelashes at him and ask him for coffee then interogate him for advice and get a date in the process lol or you can go to a site called www.how2be.co.uk and it gives a list of jobs including becoming a police officer they even have a dvd you can buy

practice being like a boss and everything! Make people think that you would be a good police officer! Tell everyone your idea is to become a police officer! Then go to college to be a police officer!! Then apply for a job silly!

I would look online for law enforcement schools in your area. It's usually about a 6 week course sometimes like a boot camp but with paper tests involved as well. Although some larger cities you don't need to do any kind of schooling or training. Such as Detroit Police, you apply they do a background check and its on the site training! But I highly recommend schooling! My friend went through it and she loved it!

U need to go to a police academy then it should be easy to get a job at a colledge or for the city. u need to start small and slowly move your way up. i personally would not recomend doing it because you rarely are ever on vacation you are alwase on duty. but if you really hear a calling for it , do it.

Enroll in the police academy, and if you pass theyr tests and requirements, you make the cut.
