The Ramsey County courts will likely remand a felon to a Minnesota State Correctional Facility where she can be put in drug treatment while serving time. Another option could be to be sent to an RTC, or Regional Treatment Center which is a locked facility for mental health treatment patients who are court-ordered.
The parole officer may want the order of the court to force this person to get the treatment they seem to need, and since that person is an IV drug user now while NOT in custody, putting them into custody may be the best option as the PO sees it. |

Well she shouldnt shoplift and she shouldnt have crystal meth. Its not the parole officers fault she did something stupid. If you cant do the time, dont do the crime, end of f*cking story. |

How near sited. She needs to be OFF the street before she kills someone driving or otherwise while she is hitting the vein. Sympathy for drug abusers is not a valid transaction. Sorry. |

She really should go into a treatment facility. Perhaps she can get court ordered into a gated or locked treatment facility so she HAS to do treatment or face jail.
They have these for juveniles and I'm sure they must have them for adults too.
The problem is she has commited some crimes and they might make her do some jail time first to let her clean out before treatment. A lot of treatment centers are not really for de'toxing because they are to handle someone who is ready to deal with their substance abuse problem. If she was court ordered she would have to do treatment or face being detained. |

It is much better to have her off the street so that she isn't in danger of hurting herself or someone else while using meth. The parole officer is doing his job. I'm sure that once she goes before a court and/or the parole board she will be ordered into a drug treatment facility. She is more likely to stay in treatment if there is a court order putting her there. It's unlikely she would admit herself and stay long enough to be helped. The parole board can also order her into treatment and and will continue to check on her progress while she's there. It's really the best way to go for her right now. |

You don't mention the amount of meth she was found with as that will make a very big difference, and apparently she must have a prior record for her to be even close to doing time. However based on the fact that she is already on probation and is still continually using maybe the PO thinks she isn't taking it seriously. I guarantee you don't know the entire story on this one. Was she given classes to take already? It seems like they have reached the end of the line with her and don't have many options left. |

I agree with the several other people. Why does she still have her kids? If she is in jail at least she wont be using or putting others in harms way! |

How come she's able to focus on using drugs and stealing? |

Let them arrest her so that she can get some state paid for help |

Sorry but if she needs treatment she should try and get it on her own, the parole officer job is only to watch her that she does not braeak the law again and if she breaks the law send her back to prison, that is his job not to be a social worker.
I wish it was not, but that is how our system works today |

You need a good lawyer that can make that clear to the court system. The courts are helpful with the right instruction. If you're dealing with an unpaid court appointed lawyer with an overloaded caseload....you don't have chance. Get a lawyer that is there FOR HER. |

She needs to go turn herself in for treatment before she really messes up and goes to jail. |

Easy enough, when she goes in for her trial then the judge isn't likely to put her in jail. He's most likely to put her in a treatment facility for awhile. That's why we elect Judges every year silly ^_~ |

They have treatment programs in jail. Otherwise you just need lots of money to get doctors and to get her in to a treatment program. |
