Don't commit crime so you won't end up in prison. And if you are there already, absolutely nothing you can do, I work there so I know. NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO AVOID RAPE IN PRISON!!!!!!!!!!!!

That depends on whether or not you're good at physically defending yourself, and making political connections with other convicts who are considered respected in the prison population. If you're not, then the following tips are probably your best bet:

1) Don't shower for months at a time. If you're skanky enough (most) inmates won't want to touch you.

2) Voluntarily bend over for 1 or 2 really big friends who'll watch your back, so at least you won't become everybody's bi+ch.

3) Ask to be placed in protected custody/solitary confinement.

By the way, I hate all those conservative neanderthals out there who seem to think that getting raped in prison is some kind of a joke and that it should just be considered part of your punishment. It's the court and the state who should decide how you get punished for a crime, not other inmates! Sure, you can avoid having that happen to you by not winding up in jail in the first place, any idiot knows that, but that's obviously not an answer to the intent of the question that was posed here.

Why on earth does everyone think being in prison turns a person gay! Think of all the men you know... Brothers,fathers,friends,hubby.now how many are going to turn gay if they are sent to prison for any reason guilty or not? Are you saying they will be raped...then in turn rape others? Really,think about it....not saying that all men in prison are not gay...but most are not! And those who are stay with other gays....also why did someone on this question lie about working in a prison...then change her name ID when I called her on it? Everyone that goes to prison is someone's girlfriend at one point or another. My brother was a prison guard and I've talked with many others.
