How do you know when the CHP is violating the rules?

well,i got pulled over with my boyfriend by the CHP.there were 2 of them and they basically took my boyfriend in their patrol car while i was in ours.When one of the CHP was talking to me after all the questioning was done and we(my boyfriend & i)were waiting to get picked up by our guardian the Officer asked me "whats on your jacket?" and i said "huh?umm" then he asked "what are you wearing under it" and i said "a shirt" and then he asked "what kind of shirt?" and i replied"a tubetop".After this i was pretty confused as to why would he need to know about what im wearing and whats underneath my jacket.i felt pretty violated.Are they allowed to do this??

Yes, they are allowed to do that.

You, of course, did not have to answer, but it was better to comply wth the officer's questions.

He may have seen an unknown residue on your jacket and could have suspected it as drug residue.

He then of course, would want to know if you had anymore underneath your jacket. It was just a simple investigation on whether or not you may have had drugs on you, regardless of whether or not you actually did. The officer was mot likely not trying to violate you in any way, but just doing his job. Officers see all kinds of stuff and they learn from those experiences.

Never been harrassed before? The best thing to do while being harrassed is to remail silent. Just give them your ID. You don't need to answer anything; and yes, they can ask you the color of your underware. If you want to waste some time, go down to the office and fill out a complaint againts the officer. It won't do you much good, but at least you will get to speak to his boss.

Well you need to provide a little more information. Did you get cited? If so, for what? Did they tow your car? If so, what was the reason they did that?

There are many reasons as to why the CHP officers felt it was necessary to separate you guys the way they did. First, for their own safety, secondly, they probably wanted to make sure one of you wasn't telling the other how to answer the cops' questions. I bet they asked one, if not both, of you how long ya'll been together for.

Now, I don't know whether they cited you, or towed your car, but regardless of what happened, there was no--and I mean ABSOLUTELY NO--reason for him to need to know what you are wearing. That sounds like a come-on, which is completely inappropriate considering that he's a CHP officer, and your bf was there with you.

I say you file a complaint if you really felt violated. You'll need a witness though. Did your bf hear what the cop told you? If not, still try. Get his *** suspended or something. If you got a ticket you have to appear at court for, you should bring it up to the judge, and also try to shoot for a trial and use that to make him look bad (IF you got a ticket).

I'm not an attorney, but you should definitely ask one about this.... that's just totally wrong dude. for real

When the CHP are on the road they are doing something sleazy fer sure. They evil bastids and they just the violent protection scam for wealthy individuals.
