yes. but next time only if you need to. carry pepper spray with your gun. so if pepper spray doesn't work you can use you pistol. if you decide to pull your pistol out and not use it, it can turn bad. make sure you take a self defence course of some type. be safe : )

These boys had no right to follow you and invade your space. i doesn't matter where you were or what time of day it was...you have a legal right to walk the streets unmolested.

What do i suggest?

Buy a very realistic looking water gun and fill it with mace. problem solved :)

while i understand why every one said a gun would have been overdone in this situation, a little bottle of mace isn't very menacing if you don't know what it is and my not be a good visual "back the hell off" sign.

Get some pepper spray -- if you use it inappropriately, you don't get to spend 10 years in prison for manslaughter/murder 2.

And if you felt you life was threatened, you could whip a pistol out -- if you have a carry permit and your intent isn't to shoot them.

And if you do shoot, shoot only to disarm the situation -- pumping 6 bullets into someone might paint you in a negative light in court.

You didn't need to let him get into your face like that, but just randomly pulling out a gun as he walks toward you might cause some legal problems, and pulling the gun out at point blank creates tactical problems.

The best thing you can do is warn him to stay away adamantly. If he gets in your face, you can swing (Personally, I'd push him as far away from me as possible and draw). Try to run away, if he begins chasing you, then feel free to turn around and draw.

YOUR situation went well, but after an escahalting issue I ran into once, I've learned NEVER to let them get in your face. Most people are punks and won't do **** when they're in your face.. But I ran into the exception, and it completly caught me off guard.

No. The appropriate time to draw a weapon is when an assailant intends to use a weapon against you.

No, all turned out well. He was already too close to you and could have just taken the gun off you, you waited too long. What if they were armed as well? No, your life wasn't threatened. Someone breaks into your home, then you shoot to kill.

Not unless he had a weapon and threatened to use it against you. If he was just in your face you can't shoot him because your life is not in danger.

sorry I live in NYC and you just have to deal with this kinda stuff sometimes, there are a lot of strange people in this city and sometimes they will try to talk to you

You did the right thing just ignoring him tho, that's what I do and people usually go away

But just b/c someone comes near you, that doesn't mean you can pull a gun out and I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to carry a weapon without a permit in NYC

yes, a firearm might be a little extreme in her case, and pepper spray would be a little more sensable.

If you didn't need a gun to get the guys to leave you alone, why would you want to pull one? Never use a gun unless you have to, just getting
angry is no excuse to use a gun, that could cause you a mother lode of trouble!
