How do you report a dangerous driver?

Ahh so weird i actually know the answer to this :D

Ok i had the same problem as you but with some punkkid who thought it was funny to ride a dirt bike up and down my road , i thought nothing of it till he clipped me on the way to the shop , so i took down his reg and called the police.

Hasn't happened since.

By the way i live on a pretty ruff estate if you live in similar surroundings be as discrete as possbile or you could end up with a brick threw the window.

I would call or go to your local Police or Sheriffs department and ask what can be done. Explain the situation and hopefully they will have some advice for you. If you can I would jot down the licence plate and description of the vehicle & driver... "just in case".

I'd suggest you take a video of him going by and show it to the police. Perhaps the police would give the matter priority if they saw how dangerous the situation was.

Do you have a "neighbourhood beat manager" responsible for your village? Then tell him/her, and ask your friends and neighbours to do the same.

You could call the local police or sheriff, but it is not likely that they will be able to do anything about it. They have to catch him in the act to write him a ticket, and when you call - by the time they get there, he will likely be gone. They also aren't going to sit around and wait for him, that's just a waste of time. Some departments will allow you to make a patrol request - and they will patrol a particular area a little more. It works best if numerous people call this in.

Depending on your state, you may be able to issue him a ticket yourself. You will have to write down the license plate and be able to identify the driver. It would be best if you knew his name. Since it would be your word against his in court, it would be best if you have evidence. A video would be ideal. You should also calculate how fast he is going by measuring how long it takes him to get from one point in the video to another. Different jurisdictions have different procedures for entering citizen citations, and some don't allow it at all, so call your local law enforcement and ask them if you can do that and how to do it.

all one can do is to report it to the police and get other people to do the same whatever you do don't take the law into your own hands or You could be the one to get charged,also don't call on the info line call on999 it is the only way to get an answer to your problem , good luck
