How do you spot a criminal?

There are people who know how to behave normal on the streets when in fact they could very well be a psychopath or a criminal of some sort. Is there a way of spotting them?

there behavior is opportunitist.
they assess situations differently from normal people, they look more for a window of opportunity in activities that might not be legitimate

in case of a psychopath, see how they behave in an altruistic settings. so if someone fell down, and they dont help they dont care. psychopaths dont care of anyone getting hurt, sometimes they even enjoy seeing it

Generally,no, otherwise there would hardly be any crimes

I would say the most dangerous criminals cannot be casually spotted out of a crowd.

A successful criminal relies on his social engineering skills and ability to blend in. Sociopaths are especially adept -- I have heard stories of serial killers who were married with children, and their family never knew the type of person they really were.

Just be sure to make good decisions for yourself, and take the normal precautions.. don't walk down any dark alleys, etc.

They would probably look dodgy, always looking around, maybe following someone, or they could have wierd clothes on, or look very unwell/dirty.

Sadly, not. This is like saying the criminals are going to wear a name tag saying "Tim: Serial killer", sadly this is not the case. If they know how to act normal on the streets there is not much we can do about it. You must keep your wits about you on the streets, in the shopping centre, even in your own home. If you have children (whether they are young or not) you must keep your eye on them, when with friends make sure everyone is with you before you leave a place. If you do suspect suspicious behaviour then you can go to people. Suspicious behaviour can be reported to the police, bus driver, transport police, public staff etc.

Prussian Blue
If they are dressed in blue, carry a gun, & wear a badge, they are criminal.

there is no definitive way of spotting a criminal (to my knowledge) unless you see them brandishing a gun and walking into a store.

the black and white hooped top, the muskrat mask over the eyes and a large burlap sack marked SWAG...
also the way they tend to walk on tiptoes looking over their shoulder

Now you know how hard it is to really know
Most criminals wear saville row suits armarni and are bejewelled in gold
they also work for multinational conglomerates and we regularly give them our hard earned wages

Yes, look for the word PSYCHO on their forehead. It's printed in big bold letters so you can pick them out easily

Suspicious looking people or people acting suspiciously. Sometimes, it takes a trained eye and gut instinct to spot some of these crooks. That's where police training comes handy.

As a Law Enforcement Officer. I can say that it is not always possible and certainly not easy. Alot of the criminals now-a-days have learned that looking suspicious will get you caught. However, we still conduct strict security patrols on the night shift and anyone out walking after midnight we will usually stop and speak with them just to simply deter anything they may be planning on doing. We do not stereotype we simply speak with everyone.

In spotting a criminal, it can still be seen as when a cop drives by someone and they duck behind a building or take off running down the road, down an alley. They are percieved as possibly doing something they shouldnt be otherwise they would not be so nervous. This may sound like a stereotype, but from my experience the people that are going to comit a crime are sometimes complacent, meaning they are getting to comfortable in their surroundings and WILL eventually slip up and get caught. They still typically wear the hooded sweatshirt and ball caps so they can ditch them after being seen and not match the description.

So, people could be a psychopath or a criminal and hide it well until they need to use their skills. But, the police dont always need to look out if there is an active neighborhood crime watch program. Always anonymous tips on shady looking people.

Hopefully this is what you wanted
