Heredity plays a role primarily because of the environmental causes. So to specifically answer your question...family affect delinquency if the income and economics force low income housing, residences in less than appealing environments where crime is higher.
Family makeup affect delinquency because a large family will have a higher draw on what little income is coming in.
Family behaviour plays a role because if drugs are the means by which the parents 'escape' from the harsh reality, or members of the family try to find an easy way out of the indebtedness through criminal activity versus focusing on education to get a good job, then the cycle begins again.

By not taking a positive roll in your child's life.
By ignoring your child.
By demeaning your child.
By belittling your spouse.
By being abusive...

Should I go on....

In a healthy family you are given responsibilities (chores) and there are consequences when you don't do them. Also you have boundaries - you know what is expected of you and there are consequences when you fail to live up to those standards. You are surrounded by love and support and feel secure with discussing issues/ admitting problems.

apart from enablers within the family, not much. If genetics played a part, all members of a family would be lawbreakers if one was. In my family, 3 boys. One went to college, one went to the service. One went to jail.
