A cop is just a fellow human in a different uniform than yours. Would you have helped if it was just an average person who was hit? What if you witnessed a cop getting shot by the person who they just pulled over? Would you just go on past not caring about them? What if they do come to help you but the end result isn't what you want. Are you going to sue them still? People with that kind of mentality are the reason there are court cases where someone tries to get billions of dollars because they get burned spilling hot coffee on themselves, or because they don't get their pants back when they get their jacket back from the cleaners.

You can try to sue if they don't show up, but the US Supreme Court has already decided they don't have that obligation.

Don't worry about the cops, one day when you get struck by a vehicle, they'll stand over your body and make comments about you.

i wanna be a cop when i" grow up".. so. i would go pretty far to help a cop. there the ones who keep the country a safe place to live so it isnt filled with drug using gang members

How would you like it if some random car hit you and nobody helped you? Our police officers are people too, you stupid little ingrate. So how would you like it if nobody cared about you and said something like "Oh, I'll sue him if he doesn't do his job, but hell if I care if he gets life threatening injuries."

I would go as far as I could to help an officer that I came across in a situation that they couldn't handle themselves or if they got hurt. Like YOU said; the pay is bad, no respect, and many citizens look the other way. I'm not going to be some piss for brains little moron like yourself that wants help when they need it but won't help somebody else in need, especially somebody who freely puts their life on the line to help idiots like yourself...

Wouldn't it be ironic if a loved one of yours needed help and a bystander saw, but since your loved-one didn't fit the profile to warrant giving him or her assistance, turned a blind eye and did nothing to help?

well thats a hard question......i think alot of bad, rude cops give the good , caring ones a bad name. but at the same time they know how dangerous the job is so why would i put my life in danger to help someone out that likes and knows about the danger in the line of duty. so i think it would depend on the situation . i mean if there gonna bust down a door for drugs i wouldnt be like "oh officer its right there" you know ( so that was just an example) so now my thing is i dont volunteer any information.

I think in the spirit of your answer, when you do call teh cop and he is trying to get to you to help you and someone else is preventing him we can all make sure we dont help him be able to help you.

I can never do anything like that...even when I am in a hurry --my conscience bothers me too much. Just like when I am in the store and change my mind about something....I go all the way back to put the item away most of the time. If I don't I will just keep thinking about it.
