How long can they hold him? - Charged with assault 3rd.?

I am charging my ex-fiance with assault 3rd for knocking me down, leaving bruises and scrapes on my arms, dazing me from my head hitting the floor so hard, and for leaving my face swollen after he slapped me.
I need to know how long they can hold him after they arrest him?
I've never charged anyone with a crime before, and I know that once he hears the charges, he'll know exactly who charged him and he'll come after me...

I don't have the money for a lawyer. I just want to know how long the police can hold him for after they get a warrant and arrest him.

Expect him to just stay 1 night. You need to call the police as soon as possible and file a report and have him arrested. If you guys were living together, it may be catergorized as domestic violence. They should file a restraining order/protective order immediately. The responding police officer and the people at the station will be able to give you guidance. You are a victim of a crime. Unless you plan on taking him to civil court, you do not need a lawyer. |

It may depend on his bond and if he can pay it or not or get bonded out. you might want to call the jail and ask how long until he will see a judge for his case. And then like i mentioned depending on if he even gets a bond for his charge it sounds pretty brutal... Im sorry i hope you are ok! That will determine how long he will be held. I wish i could tell you more but im not sure where you live and what county and those things differ where you live! Good luck sweetie and thank god hes your ex! there are better men out there who would never hurt a women! |

This sounds more like something you should talk to a lawyer about and your options for stopping him from finding you coming to you ect. |
