Felony Warrants DO NOT EXPIRE. Mortgage fraud is a felony.
From the internet:
http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title35/ar33/ch2.pdf
The specific section reads:
IC 35-33-2-4 Expiration; reissuance
Sec. 4. A warrant of arrest for a misdemeanor expires one hundred eighty (180) days after it is issued. A warrant of arrest for a felony and a rearrest warrant for any offense do not expire.
A sheriff who has an expired warrant shall make a return on the warrant stating that it has expired and shall return it to the clerk of the court that issued it.
The clerk shall enter the fact that the warrant has expired in his records and shall notify the prosecuting attorney of the county that the warrant has expired. Upon request of the prosecuting attorney, the court shall issue another warrant.
As added by Acts 1981, P.L.298, SEC.2. |

The warrant will expire when he does.
In other words, it doesn't go away until the judge removes it, he gets arrested, or he dies. |

It lasts indefinitely. When I was on the job, I had several incidents where I'd pulled people over on traffic violations and they had this issue (old warrants).
One that sticks in my mind was over 12 years old.
So tell your "friend" he can run, but he can't hide.
Not forever, anyways. |

There is more than likely a warrant for him and if he ever gets pulled over or anything like that his warrant will show up |

the warrant will stay until he is caught. which will most likely happen because of something stupid like a traffic violation. |

they will have the warrant out until it is served. |

Warrants never go away unless they are either recalled by the court or executed!
From your statement it sounds like the case started in a state court where your friend was released pending a indictment from a federal court.
This case will not be dropped nor recalled by the court. What will happen is the warrant of arrest will be referred to the US Marshalls which will then attempt to locate and execute the warrant.
In all my years of experience...it'd be my strongest suggestion to your friend...turn himself in and take care of the issue quickly.
The federal court system is a totally different "machine" than the state system. He should be able to obtain an attorney from the federal level who will represent him through the case! |

I believe the warrants will always stay on the system(CPEC). I doubt they would ever erase that from the system. I dont see this particular situation ever being dormant or disappearing from the system. |

Eventually it will catch up with him. Mail fraud is serious and once he feds get bored and decide to revisit some less important files in comparison to major cases, your friend will not have such a perfect record. |

No, there are different types of warrants and they all last for different durations of time. As for this, it will remain active until he has been arrested and served his day in court, especially since mail fraud is a federal offense and is never taken lightly. |

the Judge normally gives at time in which the warrant must be executed. But if the warrant expires, I'm pretty sure that a judge would not mind writting up a new one. If that guy is ever pulled over and they scan his name this expired arrest warrant will come up at the very least. |

it takes time for that record to come out! |

I think the statue of limitation is like 10 yrs, so your friend, or you need to be on the run for awhile, once you get caught, all that comes back and bites you in the but. Oh yeah, mail fraud is bad, big time sentences when he gets caught. I would suggest that he just turn himself in, they might take it easy on him |
