I am graduating college in December with my Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing. I recently realized that I have a strong desire to become a police officer. I have since started an exercise regimen and have familiarized myself with the application process.
I know that the hiring process can be lengthy and I want to be as efficient as possible. I am earning my degree is about 9 months and I wish to attend the LAPD academy soon after I graduate, so when should I start the application process?

Before you get hired and put you through the academy, they'll run you through a number of tests - written, oral, physical agility, polygraph, background check, medical, psychological. Assuming you pass all of those, then you'll be going through the academy.
Figure on 6-9 months for all of that - and another 6 months for the academy.
Best bet is to check with their recruiters, since you want your application to reflect the best information (regarding your education) to help in the hiring process.
