now hes already on probation for 3 years

hes on probation for attempted car was jacking and the substance was 3 small pieces of cocaine. we are in hampton roads area of virgina.

Hard to answer without knowing what state you reside in and what the controlled substance is, and why he is currently on probation

Edit:
He should get in touch with an attorney for he is looking at having his probation revoked and the Original sentence applied. They may just amend his probation and make him do drug and alcohol classes after a minimum of 90 days in jail. Then lengthen his term of probation

He really needs to be better advised by an attorney in his area. they normally have a free consultation
