Well first of all, the police are looking for people who have an above average grasp of the English language, both written and spoken. If you are serious about becoming a law enforcement officer, I would quit using shorthand online and start spelling out the words correctly and use correct grammar. You won't believe how casual use on the internet can affect your real life habbits.

I live in Canada, so I don't know the UK rules, but I will provide some other information. Police recruitment is on the decline right now, so you should be able to get in without any formal training, provided you are in shape and of exceptional moral character. In Canada you cannot have used any soft drug for at least 2 years, and you cannot have used any hard drug (cocaine) ever in your life.

The first step twords becoming a police officer is to beat your wife and or nearest female to you, then go to dunkin donuts, buy a dozen donuts , yell a racial slur to the cashier after your purchase. After that you must go to the nearest barber shop and get a flat top hair cut, make sure NOT to tip the stylist, get some aviator sunglasses, tin of chewing tobacco, and you are almost there. Next you have to attend racial profiling classes, evidence planting classes, and how to abuse your authority classes, ignorance 101, and how to beat innocent people to make them sign false statements of guilt classes. Once you complete those classes it is MANDATORY to gain 40-50 extra pounds, ask everybody for discounts on their services-(after all you are a cop) then go out and start treating people like SH** and harrassing them! Good LUCK and have fun out there!

That's a long way to commute. The first requirement for becoming a policeman is a desire to serve your community. Since when is London your community? I think you should try for a policeman's job at home first then think about transferring.
One final point, when you communicate with regard to jobs use proper sentences.

Matey, you need to be 18.5 yrs on appointment and no formal qualifications are required; you have to pass some written exams before going to Hendon but anyone of average intelligence will fly through these.

But do be prepared to wait. I was 19 when I passed all the tests but nearly 22 when I started training.

Hi, well done for knowing what you want to do! From what I know you must be 18 years old to be a police officer but i think it might be 17 if you take up a civillian role supporting the police.

i think you chose the wrong job.the chief of the met stated that crime pays,in an interview on television and you will get rich a lot quicker.

You have to be 18 to join the police in England and Wales and you don't need any qualifications to join you just need to pass their selection process. This usually consists of the intital application form, then a day at a training centre to take part in a "carousel assessment" which involves role play, a basic maths test and a couple of English tests (problem solving), if you are successful after that you will be asked back to have a medical and fitness test which involves the push and pull strength test and a bleep test which is nothing to worry about (level 5.10) and that's it if you pass all that your in and your next stage is training school for approx 16 weeks.

A great way to find this out and to get an information pack would be to phone the human resources department at your local police station.

I would say 16 years of age with at least 3 GCSE but that will depend on what role you wish to take on. Again ask.
