How should I get ready for police academy?

I going to be starting the police academy in aboout 6 months. I want to start doing push ups and running now. Should I do push ups every other day or everyday? I don't want to burn myself out. But I want to be able to do them with ease also.

This is LAPD's Four-Month Pre-Academy Fitness Program. Make sure you read it all before you start the program at the bottom of the page, because they suggest that you only start it when you can jog continuously for 30 minutes. It's exactly what you need. Good luck!

Just remember, the police academy is about 40 times easier than even the Air Force Boot Camp, so you should never have a problem passing it. The average police academy is like school, but for morons. It includes a few instructors who got picked on in high school but are "super tough" now because they carry a gun, never mind that they don't know how to shoot it, unless it involves an innocent person. You will be taught how to infringe on a person's rights, as long as that person doesn't know his or her rights. It includes about 3 days of a "self-defense" training that has nothing to do with hand to hand combat, but more for hurting women, children, or mentally challenged persons, all who you can harm without worrying about them beating you up.
