How should my daughter plea to burglary charge?

She is 22, never been in trouble, no record whatsoever. She recently made the acquaintence of a neighbor girl who asked her to drive her to a store with the intent of stealing. My daughter knew the intent and was on the videotape watching the girl take the item. They were arrested a week later and my daughter fully cooperated with the officers when they arrived at her apartment, even going to the extent of admitting she knew of intent which is why she was arrested. Should she plead not guilty or guilty at her arraignment? And does it matter that she did not personally take the items? She was in jail one full night before her husband bailed her out and she reported it was the worst night of her life being away from her infant son for the first time since his birth.

She should plead not guilty or enter no plea and seek a Lawyer. Her charge is a Felony and very serious. I might suggest you also visit the forum site linked here. It deals with questions from accused shoplifters and they dont judge you there |

She doesn't sound too smart, the way she admitted her wrong doing to the police. There's always plenty of time to plead guilty and cooperate later.
What did she steal? Tooth paste or the Mona Lisa?
She needs an attorney, and hopefully not a public pretender.

She is an accomplice and therefore every bit as guilty if she would have taken it herself. She already confessed from what I read.
If she pleads, she will probably get leniency especially considering her cooperation. Have her lawyer work with the DA... maybe she will just get probation. |

The question you should be asking is why was she stupid enough to get herself involved in the theft anyway, Maybe this will teach her a lesson to next time go and see a movie or for a walk in the park etc with your friends instead of stealing with them. |
