How successful are people when they go to court to fight a ticket (for a "rolliing stop" at a stop sign)?

about 70 percent of the time the officer who issued the citation doesnt even show up, and if they dont show up you win...most people dont want to go through the hassle of going to court....also depends on how long ago it occured.... chances are the officer vagely remembers it at all.

Unlikely , and not worth the expense of going to court over it . At a stop sign you have to clearly stop . To stop for a split second and roll as you put it is not a sufficient stop required for safety at that particular junction .

First of all BONNIEJ is wrong. No such thing as a bonus for issuing the most tickets or most arrests or anything else. Show up in court. A good reason for rolling at a stop sign is that there were parked cars blocking your view of the intersection and you had to roll out see any on coming cars.....good luck

This isnt a black and white answer, sorry, but it depends on three factors and how they interact, 1. The Judge 2. You and your attitude 3. The Cop and how well he can articulate his information(and if he shows).

Worst Case: You pay the ticket. Best case: You dont. So make a choice on what to do, dont lie to the judge, and deal with whatever happens.

Stop means stop. No movement, no motion of the vehicle. in other words, you car becomes a motionless mass of metal for a second or two. A "rolling stop" is nothing more than a glorified "yield."

If the cop wants this to stick bad enough, he'll be in court. you lose!

The problem with the ticket system is that it is really a "built in tax" to pay the cities bills.

They make millions and millions of dollars by ticketing folks. They really don't care about their safety to be honest.

So they are not ticketing you because of the rolling stop because as you know, nobody was damaged or hurt. They are using the rolling stop as an excuse to tax you and/or get money for the city expenses.

What you can do, if you want to see something shocking about how crooked our government is (although I love America but it's sad when you read this book) you will be shocked and terrified when you read the book "The creature from Jeckyll Island.

You will then realize that your ticket is a way to get money from you. That's all it is, it's a tax.

The reason they have it where you can argue your case is to not make it seem as such. However if you look at how many cases are won in your favor, there are hardly any. Most are won by the courts.

The police are in on it too. You can see this during the end of the month when they try to catch up with their quota. They must, absolutely bring money into the city and 'On your back" and the poor citizens back, this money will be made.

Save yourself some time and a lot of aggravation by just paying the fine. Your chances of winning the lottery are much better than convincing a judge to go against a police man.

i think just showing up gives you a good chance!!! Most likely the cop will not show up so you will win. It means that someone has to pay that cop to go to court when they could pay him to be patrolling the streets. Its money out of their pocket. DEFINITELY fight it, you will most likely win like I did. (i got 2 tickets taken away)

IF YOU THINK IT UNFAIR FIGHT IT. IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO PROVE THE OFFICER WAS LYING AND DID NOT CALCULATE TO HAVE A ROLLING STOP YOU DID NOT STOP. YOU FEEL THAT YOU STOPPED, ENOUGH FOR THE INERTIA OF YOUR CAR TO COME TO A HALT AND THEN STARTED BACK UP AGAIN AFTER BEING STOPPED AND THE INTERSECTION CLEARED.

Do u know that every month the cops get a bonus on who writes the most tickets and makes the most money?? Where i live I have a few friends that are cops,, and your situtition is a no win one,,, pay the fine ,, eat the points on your license,, watch your insurance go up,, but either way its his word against yours unless you had someone else in the car with u that can testify for u that you did stop completely,, but if not, then your stuck, and your gonna waste a day in court and and no matter what you gotta pay the court cost weather or not u do go cuz they make u pay for them too... and just for a pointer the cop isnt gonna remember that u didnt have someone in the car with u,, he's pulled over 100 people already and isnt gonna remember if u had someone with u or not ,, im not suggesting that u lie LMAO but u do what u gotta do !! good luck
