Maybe the answer is to have a large case...in front of you.... and wallop.
Used to come out of Portsmouth Dockyard..on foot....amid a whole load of dockyard mateys on bikes, with my trusty big holdall... playing dominoes with the dockyard mateys.....one falls of (having hit the holdall) and how many behind. My best score was 12.!!!! |

I know what you mean, and they are often so aggressive! They expect to be treated with the respect of other road vehicles but behave like pedestrians whenever it suits them. They just think everyone should get out of their way. |

I know. Bloddy annoying isn't it? Our local Council have spent thousands of our Council Tax money on new cycle ways but they morons still insist on riding on the pavements. Suppose I would get prosecuted if I "accidentally" knocked one off their bike whilst on the pavement - they wouldn't get done for riding on it!! |

I find an umbrella in the face makes the road tax dodgers think twice about venturing onto the pavements |

Start bicycling... |

whoa!!! skipper, *chemical castration* a bit harsh, no ?
exuse my ignorance, but how does chemical castration prevent somebody from bicycling ?
you mean you walk in the street? a bit dangerous, no ?
complain to your local police, they can help... |

I totally agree with you last Friday i was on my way to work the weather was bad but i still took the stretched Limo (bus) and got off at my usual stop. what i couldn't believe though was as i was as a pedestrian and with in my right to walk on the pavement I had to move out of the way of 2 cyclist who were determined to cycle on the pavement as it was a 1 way rd. by the time the 3rd 4th and 5th tried to make me move out of the way I just continued to walk towards them making them stop. when they gave abuse i pointed out that they were in the wrong to go read the highway code and use the correct roads and paths not pavements - be just as rude as these to$$ers who think they are above the highway code and law.
on another point why can a cyclist go through a red traffic light? |

Get Paul K, the supposed 6'5" 330 lb cop hater, to knock them off their bikes. |

hay, your question is un-clear? but you want to remember that if you git hit by a cyclist you will not be the only one who is injured. and don't think the cyclist don't know that! |

cyclists are a pain in the @rse wherever they are, on the road and on the pavements. Cycling on London roads is a dumb idea, it's a fast-paced city and if you want to be all 'green' and 'tree-hugging' go live out in the sticks ...
... And stay off the pavements, go! Shoo, shoo! |

The police were once very keen to put an end to this danger. That came to an end when the authorities became convinced by the argument that the police should catch real criminals (as distinct from those who just injure and kill others).
The point about cars parked on the pavement is a good one. I once saw flames coming out of a gutter for a distance of about 150 metres because non-thinkers had been parking on the pavement. The pavement is only built to take the weight of pedestrians and it had sunk, causing damage to the gas main. |

I agree and if you are injured who will compensate you, cyclists don't need insurance, it's about time they did. |

It is illegal to ride on pavements and it is also dangerous for other people. However, the roads are so dangerous, I can understand them not wanting to put their lives at risk. There really should be cycle paths everywhere because they have as much right to use this means as do the car drivers. It is saving the environment and is healthier for them so I can't begrudge them.
Someone in my extended family was killed by being knocked off her bike, so don't judge them too harshly, unless they are rude to you, of course. |

Yes. Chemical castration is INDEED the answer. Biker shorts should be outlawed too! |

Broom handle stuck in the spokes tend to end the issue. |

It would certainly make male cyclists think twice. |

Taking into account most of them have already had a labotomy I don't think castration will make any difference.
The bit I like is when they simply go through red lights and give a mouth full of abuse to anyone who dare protest. |

i agree with you in point. castration NO i have notice the motorist who park on and in the cycle lanes and block it for cyclists. those driving on the streets do not watch out for cyclists so if you ride out to go around the care blocking the cycle lane you may get hit trying to avoid going on the pavement..
in some cases what choices doe the cyclist have. ask the counsil to stop people parking in the lane so they don't have to ride up omn the pavement
abuse by cyclists is still wrong |

I'd put a stick in their front spokes as they rode by me. If they got angry, I'd say, "You're not supposed to be riding close enough for me to put a stick in your spokes. It's your own fault." |

hehe i can just picture a chemical castration of an a**se from a bicycle saddle. (might be a bit painful)
joke aside i do see where youre coming from, it is annoying when as a pedestrian walking on a pavement you are made to step onto the road because of these eejits.
even worse is when youre driving and you come across a group of around 10 of them riding along at their leisure 2-3 abreast and you have to drive at 5 miles an hour for miles before you can overtake. |

I'm a cyclist and I ride on pavements. I do this because Traffic terrifies me! But you mustn't use chemicals thats bad for the environment. You could use two bricks and it only hurts if you trap your finger inbetween! |

Hey dont have a go at the cyclists, their is a reason why I sometimes cycle on paths; because of DRIVERS!!!
My town only has a few cycle paths which in itself is pointless, and the number of times i've nearly been hit just because they do not look in their mirrors or out the side windows.
In respect of cycle paths and parking, it makes me very angry that driver think they are another parking area and talking to the council does nothing. One particular part of cycle path which goes through a car park, is always parked in even when their are plenty of spaces; there is the worlds smallist sign that says 'cycle path' which is stupid!! Doesnt achieve anything, and the council doesnt help!
So yes I cycle on paths at times because Id rather that than be run down by a car. If the path ahead looks busy, I will ride on the road, but if not I will happily ride on the path safe in the knowledge that im still alive! |
