How would someone escape the country If they were wanted by the police...?

I would sneak into the back of an outward bound articulated lorry parked at Dover docks at night time. Then I would be on mainland Europe that has no borders and would initially head for northern Spain, lie low for a little while and make my way to North America after forging passports and changing my appearance. I could maybe pass as a corgi.... woof woof.

Enter and leave a border more than once..as its difficult to trace a person that way. It gives extra time to escape to somewhere else where you can lie low...the European borders are all open. Make sure you get a Rabies jab! lol.

If you are writing a book you decide how they leave, it is your story so you tell it, always remember when writing a book if you want it to be believed you need about 5% truth the rest can be complete invention, nobody as ever ridden the freak surf wave to france which only happens about every 23 years a good surfer could do that and escape the uk easily just land on a french beach.

Well we had a friend who was from another country (LATVIA) and moved here few years ago he was illegal in here (UK) and police were after him.He was hiding in our house.Then he went to Latvian Embassy and told them that he lost his passport and he needed to go back.They gave him piece of paper on which it said that he lost his passport.He then went to London Airport and got himself a ticket back to Latvia.And then got married and got himself new passport and now he is back in UK...

It would depend on how badly your character was wanted. They might be able to get away with just going to an airport with there usual passport. If the crime was really serious though then they would have to visit someone who makes fake passports or try there luck on a boat out.

you can walk across the border at many places into Canada or Mexico.

You can take your own boat.

Other than that they check passports.
