How would you answer the question?

Have you been convicted of a felony within the last 7 years?
Additional Details
I was convited of a felony, but I do not know how to ask this question. Please HELP

Answer "yes" if you have been convicted.

Speedracer
assault and battery is very rarely a felony unless you really messed up the other person or you had a weapon. So, find out if you were really convicted or just charged. There's a big difference in being charged and convicted.

Answer truthfully

There's only one way to answer. Honestly. My son just got a job and he not only had to be honest about everything, but they did a thorough check on him. People can get a lot of information on you for very little money. Employers have even more access. This isnt meant to scare you, just be aware that even though you do have a felony on your record, if you're honest about it, it's better than them finding out later. My son had committed a felony in 1989 and he was worried that it would turn up. They only went back 7 years and he's had a clean record since 89. Employers will judge you by how you are now. Good luck with this.

Answer "YES" (u might b on police records n don't want 2 get caught in a lie) n write.."w/ an explanation"..then state ur case n b simple n straight 2 the point. Remember that when u r walking in the valley of shadows, u shouldn't fear NO evil..God is w/ u !

Rych
Amm just answer the question.. Why is that so hard.

juicy_wishun
"Yes."

You have to be honest. If you lie, and they find out about it, you will be fired, and they will probably press criminal charges. Just be honest, and try to think of the best way to explain the conviction, if you get an interview.

Good luck.

I would answer the question honestly.
If you lie-- the asker will find out eventually!

If they do a check, they will be able to find out. So it is always best to tell the truth....They can't discriminate against you for it anyways.

Be honest.
You wouldn't want to be like Barry Bonds would you?

It's always best to be truthful. It is what it is and if you try to hide it, it WILL come back and bite you. Just be honest.

Darklighter
You need to answer that question truthfully. If your prospective employer learns later that you lied, you can get fired without notice or recourse, and if anything were to happen, such as something being stolen, and someone finds out that you lied about it, you become "Guilty, even if proven innocent."

Some people will give a convicted felon a second chance, but no one will give that chance if they've been lied to about it.

Gypsy Girl
If you have been convicted of a feloney in the last 7 years you say yes and explain what you were convicted for. This does not mean you will be automatically denied a job or service, they just want to know if they can trust you.

Maria
Be honest because they can always do a background check on you, so it will look worse if you lie. If it's something from that long ago and you have made good since then, be proud of yourself for changing and getting past that felony. Hopefully your future employer will notice the time since it's happened and take note your good behavior since you did your time for the incident.

Be honest. I would say what it was and then go into a lot of detail about how you made up for it since then (ie. completed your community service hours, jail time, whatever) and how you are now a productive member of society.

jccollegegirl03
Just say the truth

KT
you need to be truth full because if you lie you will get in more trouble. and when you get your migger do it all and DO NOT LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

black mule
Tell the truth. It may not make you free, but you will at least be half price.

say the TRUTH.

yeah
Deffinatly be honest! Especially if that question is on a job application. (which it sounds like) If you lie about it, and they find out, you will be fired, it will go on your record, and a possiblity of MORE legal trouble for lying about it. It will seriously come back and screw you over. You're MUCH better off just answering yes and listing the felony.

As far as how to write it down, just write something along the lines of "Yes, for assault and battery." And if there is space enough, BREIFLY summarize what happened in an honest, not sneaky way.

Sway_27
Well, I woudl answer "no", but you would answer "yes"

If they do background checks by all means be honest. Otherwise, it might be worth the risk if you wouldn't get the job otherwise.
