I live in Illinois, I am 18. I was wondering if I would be able to legally purchase a Hunting/Sniper rifle, and if I am able to do so how powerful?

Since you are not 21, you will need the permission of your mommy or daddy to get a FOID ( Your state considers you to be a child.) If you can get one of your parents to sign off, you can get a FOID card and then you can buy your rifle. From what I have be able to determine, Cook County does not strongly regulate rifles beyond the unconstitutional regulations of your state.

By the way, since you can vote, work to get your government changed to a more rational group.

PS, I would not call it a sniper rifle, that just gives the idiots more to work with.

You live in Cook Co, IL. The Damocraps saw to it that you probably can't buy any guns. If it is classed as a sniper rifle, they are probably not available. Hunting rife, ok. The best source for your answer would be the states web site of their gun laws including Cook Co.
