Never do anything involving "making money" or "growing your money" over the internet. You should only make transactions over the internet with respected establishments.. and make sure it's for the RIGHT reasons.

This is very common, so much so, that they now have commercials on TV advertising these scams. What a shame, but a good lesson for everyone. If it is too good to be true it usually is.

Call the better business beaureu, they might be able to get you your money back I fell for a scam and lost almost as much as you did $200. Anyways I reported them and got my money back. I gave them there address and there phone

the western union office where that money was picked up has a surveillance camera all they have to do is get time stamp from when it was pikked and they have a picture of her

Spread the word, and pay back the bank before they put you on ChexSystems for account abuse, as YOU are on the hook. The bank doesn't care. A loan might be appropriate in the meantime because technically you sent other people's money (saved in the bank) to the chick in IL.

Keep every piece of paper you have on the company because the worse is yet to come.

Did you give these people your SS# so they could pay you? I'm thinking you deposited these 'cashier's checks' into your bank account...close that account, ASAP! The reason is you had to sign those checks to deposit them and they are going to end up somewhere with your bank account number on them.

Also, get a copy of your credit report because you are over-drawn on your account you may now be in the ChexSystems and your credit report may have changes you aren't aware of.

As for helping other people, it's a nice thought but you weren't the first or last person who fell for this.

Make copies of what you have and send it to the Attorney General's office in Chicago, attention Fraud Department. You will have to tell them exactly the name of the scam company and the name of the person you sent the cashier's checks to.

Get busy because the longer you wait, the deeper in this you're going to find yourself.

I find it so difficult to believe that people are still getting taken in by these fake cashier's check/postal money order scams. Nothing is ever gotten for free.

Real money takes hard work to earn....or at least alot of capital to invest ; )

This happened to me last week. They got me for $4,484.50. They were Money Gram Money Orders drawn on Wells Fargo Bank. The teller at Wachovia cashed two of them and I did like you did and proceeded to do my Mystery Shopper duties and report back to them about my findings of the business. 95% of the money I received was wired as well. I contacted the MD FBI Field Office, The IC3 Internet Crime Unit of the FCC, notified the MD Attorney General's Office and reported the MTCN numbers to Western Union. I am negative with two banks and I have forwarded all the emails that I received from the scammer to spoof@westernunion.com and they will supply any information to FBI and IC3 to help catch these people. The package with the money orders came to me from a place in Washington State, KITSAP Transit which is a real business. The telephone number and the man's name who sent the package to me Fed Ex is a working number and the man's name is actually on the voice mail. I gave all this information to the authorities as well. There is a check list of government agencies that you can contact. They are all the ones listed in this response.
